Get Charged Claymore
Overview

The
Charged Claymore is an epic two-handed sword with item level 593, added to World of Warcraft in The War Within expansion (patch 11.0.0). The weapon uses an electric, earthy color scheme: the blade's dark metal contrasts with bluish-white energy charges running along the entire length of the edge. The icon and blade shape evoke the archetype of "electrified" two-handed weapons typical of Khaz Algar.
The Claymore is crafted by blacksmiths and is available to warriors, paladins, and death knights. To unlock the transmog, the item must first be obtained or ordered from a blacksmith — after that the appearance is unlocked account-wide.
Source
The Charged Claymore is a Blacksmithing profession item (The War Within).
How to obtain the recipe:
The plans can be acquired in two ways:
- Buy
Plans: Charged Claymore from Auralia Steelstrike in Mereldar (Hallowfall) for 150
Artisan's Acuity. Renown rank 4 with the "Hallowfall Arathi" faction is required. - Learn it automatically after investing 10 points into the "Long Blades" specialization (Armament Smithing → Blades → Long Blades branch).
Blacksmith requirements:
- Khaz Algar Blacksmithing, skill level 35.
- The "Long Blades" specialization is recommended for improved item quality.
Crafting reagents:
| Material | Quantity | Where to obtain |
|---|---|---|
| 12 | Crafted by blacksmiths from Khaz Algar ore | |
| 6 | Crafted by blacksmiths; requires the specialization | |
| 2 | Earned weekly through profession quests | |
| 1 | Crafted by leatherworkers | |
| 1 | Skinned from Slatefang in the Rumbling Wilds |
The item is bind on equip, so to obtain the transmog you must equip it yourself or ask a blacksmith to craft it through the crafting order system.
Who it suits visually
- Dark knight or paladin of the Light. The bluish-white discharges on the dark blade pair well with both the Silver Vanguard and death armor from Northrend.
- Storm or nature-themed look. The Claymore fits naturally with lightning-themed sets — for example, shaman or warrior tier sets from Dragon Soul.
- Monochrome metallic look. The dark steel base without bright color lets the weapon blend into neutral plate sets from Legion and Battle for Azeroth raids.
- Khaz Algar warrior. The weapon was stylistically conceived as part of the gear of Arathi warriors in The War Within, so it pairs perfectly with the armor and rewards of the "Hallowfall Arathi" faction.
Tips
If you don't have a blacksmith among your contacts, use the crafting order system in the profession workshop — place a public order with the reagents, and any blacksmith with the recipe will complete it.
To unlock the transmog it is enough to equip the Charged Claymore once — after that the appearance will be available to all characters on the account who can use two-handed swords.
The most expensive reagent is the
Spark of Omens. It cannot be bought directly: each week a player receives one spark through profession quests or by combining two
Fractured Sparks of Omens.
If you are a blacksmith yourself, investing 10 points into the "Long Blades" branch unlocks the recipe for free — you can skip buying the plans for Artisan's Acuity.
All reagents except the Spark of Omens are available on the Auction House — the crafting cost of the Claymore is largely determined by the market price of alloys on your realm.
Paladins and death knights can apply the weapon to their look through the transmogrification interface at the Appearance Vendor in any major city.
