Get Charmed Ancient Bone Bow
Overview

Charmed Ancient Bone Bow is a heirloom two-handed ranged weapon, a bow for hunters. The weapon model is bony: a dark stave assembled from curved bone plates, with a carved grip and a taut bowstring. The silhouette is grim, in the spirit of the Scourge and the undead, so the bow looks great in dark "necromantic" looks.
This bow is the heirloom copy of the rare weapon "Ancient Bone Bow" that drops in the Crypt of Forgotten Kings. Visually both versions are identical; only the way to obtain it differs: the heirloom variant is sold for gold by heirloom vendors and is available right away, with no dungeon run required.
The bow was added together with the heirloom item system in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion and has been available from the standard heirloom vendors of both factions ever since.
Source
The appearance unlocks when you buy the heirloom bow itself. You get it from heirloom vendors for gold; no reputation or achievements are needed for this.
- For the Alliance, the bow is sold by Krom Stoutarm — the heirloom keeper in the Hall of Explorers in Ironforge.
- For the Horde, the bow is sold by Estelle Gendry — the heirloom "keeper" in the Undercity (she also stands by in Orgrimmar).
- In Icecrown, the same bow is available from Dame Evniki Kapsalis at the Argent Tournament Grounds — here payment goes in Champion's Seals if you are farming the tournament.
- The purchase is made once: after it, the appearance is permanently added to the account-wide transmogrification collection.
Since this is a heirloom item, the bow suits hunters of any level and scales to the character — it is convenient to use both as a real weapon while leveling and as a base for a look at max level.
Who it suits visually
- Suits "necromantic" and Scourge-related looks — the bony texture echoes the sets from Icecrown Citadel and the Crypt of Forgotten Kings.
- Harmonizes with dark leather and mail armor in earthy, gray-brown, and greenish tones.
- Pairs with ranger-hunter style looks from Tirisfal Glades and other undead zones.
- Contrasts with bright, "holy" paladin-type armor — a debatable but striking combination for an "undead hunter" look.
Tips
The simplest path to the appearance is to buy the bow for gold from your faction's vendor, without running a dungeon.
If you already have Champion's Seals from the tournament, it is better to take the bow from Dame Evniki Kapsalis and save your gold.
The appearance unlocks on a heirloom item right at purchase, so you do not have to keep the bow in your bags afterwards.
For new hunters this bow is doubly useful: it is both a real heirloom weapon for leveling and an instantly unlocked appearance.
If you prefer the drop, farm Lady Illucia Barov in the Crypt of Forgotten Kings — she also has a chance at other dungeon items.
One unlocked appearance applies to all characters on the account; there is no need to buy it again for other hunters.
