Overview

Коготь Феникса

Game iconClaw of the Phoenix is an epic fist weapon from the The Burning Crusade era, crafted in a fiery phoenix theme. Its blades resemble the white-hot talons of a phoenix bird and echo the appearance of their master — Al'ar himself. This is a paired weapon: it has a "twin" with the exact same look, so if you wish, you can collect a matching pair of two identical claws for both hands.

The appearance is obtained in The Eye — the inner sanctum of Tempest Keep in Outland. Unlike many raid rarities of that era, it remains accessible: the raid is easily cleared solo at the current level.

Source

Source type — a drop from a raid boss, available and farmable solo.

  • Claw of the Phoenix drops from Al'ar — Kael'thas's phoenix and the first boss of The Eye raid.
  • The Eye raid is located in Tempest Keep, on the eastern edge of Netherstorm — the northeastern zone of Outland.
  • At the current level the raid is cleared solo, and the walk to Al'ar is short, since it is the first boss along the way.
  • The raid resets once a week per character, so you can farm the appearance in parallel on several characters.

Visual Fit

  • Looks with a fiery, phoenix theme: the white-hot talons reinforce the motif of living flame.
  • Sets in a red-and-orange palette: the warm glow of the weapon supports the burning accents of the armor.
  • Themed builds around Kael'thas and the blood elves: the weapon comes directly from his raid.
  • Paired fist-weapon looks: two identical claws in your hands look cohesive and symmetrical.

Tips

1

Visit The Eye once a week on each character — this way your combined chance to obtain both claws grows faster.

2

Collect both the Claw and the Spur of the Phoenix: together they form a symmetrical pair for both hands.

3

Use the weapon on classes that wield fist weapons — for example, rogues and monks.

4

Al'ar himself takes very little time: it is the first boss, and from the entrance it is only a couple of minutes away.

5

Since you are clearing the raid anyway, push on to the final boss — Kael'thas Sunstrider: he drops the rare inv_misc_summerfest_brazierorangeAshes of Al'ar mount with about a 1.7% chance.

6

The Ashes of Al'ar mount drops specifically from Kael'thas, not from Al'ar himself — don't mix up the bosses if you're hunting for both the appearance and the flying phoenix at once.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
