Overview

Clawbacker Halberd

Game iconClawbacker Halberd is a two-handed polearm in the industrial goblin style of Undermine. A long shaft is crowned by a massive jagged blade with mechanical details and a distinctive rusty-brass palette that immediately evokes goblin workshops and drilling rigs. The look is rough, utilitarian and eye-catching — a great pick for mercenary, miner or mechanic themed outfits.

The weapon arrived in The War Within expansion alongside the Undermine zone (patch 11.1). Its weapon class is polearm, so the halberd suits druids, demon hunters, warriors, paladins, death knights and hunters — that is, everyone who uses two-handed spears and halberds.

Stat-wise this is a weapon of Undermine content level, but collectors are mainly interested in the look as a rare model with signature goblin aesthetics — there are not many such expressive "industrial" halberds in the game.

Source

The Clawbacker Halberd drops from the Drill Boss — a special challenge boss that resides in Undermine. This is a rare, higher-difficulty opponent tied to the goblin capital zone.

  • The appearance drops from the Drill Boss with a chance of about 0.72%, so it is one of the rarest drops in the zone — brace yourself for a long farm.
  • The Drill Boss is located in Undermine, in the drilling arena area on the lower tiers of the city. The entrance to him is hidden behind the stands.
  • The boss is designed for solo completion as a challenge, but because of his boosted stats you should come to him in combat gear of the current item level.
  • Each successful attempt gives a chance at this appearance; the fight itself has no hard weekly limit — the only restriction is the low drop chance.

Who it suits visually

  • Ideal for goblin and engineering looks thanks to the brass-rust palette and the mechanical details of the blade.
  • Pairs well with sets in a brown-copper and steel palette, especially with the leather and mail sets of Undermine.
  • Works for a mercenary, miner or mechanic concept — a rough, utilitarian shape with no magical glow.
  • Stands out against clean gold and bright plate sets: the dark industrial shaft gives a sharp but memorable contrast.

Tips

1

Gear up to the maximum before the fight: the Drill Boss is a boosted challenge opponent, and you won't always beat him on the first try.

2

The main limitation is the extremely low drop chance of the appearance (0.72%), so plan for many repeat attempts.

3

The fight is designed for solo completion; you don't need a separate group to farm the appearance.

4

The halberd binds when picked up and cannot be passed to another character — farm the appearance on the hero who needs it.

5

Combine attempts on this boss with other Undermine activities so the farm doesn't turn into monotonous, wasted runs.

6

Before heading out, make sure you have unlocked access to Undermine through the The War Within story campaign, otherwise you won't be able to reach the boss.
