Combatant's Bootblade — Transmog Set Guide

Combatant's Bootblade is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft in patch 3.1.0 during the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a short stabbing blade with a broad edge and a massive guard, finished in a cold blue-steel palette with a faint turquoise sheen — the recognizable "stormy" gear style from the Ulduar raid.

The dagger is a melee weapon and suits classes that use daggers: rogues, druids, shamans, warlocks, mages, priests and demon hunters. By its stat set it is an agility weapon, so it was originally designed for rogues, but for transmogrification its appearance is available to any class that can wield daggers.

The item's value today is purely cosmetic. The cold palette and compact silhouette make the blade a great pick for looks in the spirit of machinery and the storm element, characteristic of Ulduar's titan architecture.

The Combatant's Bootblade drops in the Ulduar raid, located in the Storm Peaks zone in Northrend. The drop source is the boss Thorim, one of the Keepers of the titans.

The key catch: a regular victory over Thorim does not grant this dagger. The item sits in a separate reward, the Cache of Storms, which appears only when you complete the fight in hard mode.

• Hard mode is activated through a challenge before the boss: the group must break through a corridor of enemies and engage Thorim in less than three minutes.
• If you make that timer, Sif does not disappear and fights on Thorim's side — that is the sign the fight is running in its harder variant.
• After defeating Thorim in this mode, the Cache of Storms appears near the battle site, and the Combatant's Bootblade can be obtained precisely from it.
• There is also a version of the dagger for the 25-player format — Combatant's Bootblade. It is the same appearance; only the numeric stats of the original item differ.

Today Ulduar is run solo. Take a max-level character: the level gap with the old raid is huge, and the whole path to Thorim, including the challenge corridor, closes out with ease. The main thing is not to forget the three-minute condition, otherwise the cache will not appear and you will have to repeat the farm.

• It fits well into looks themed around Ulduar and titan motifs — cold metal, turquoise accents, strict geometric shapes.
• It harmonizes with plate and mail sets in a blue-silver palette: the blade does not clash with the overall tone but supports it.
• It suits "storm element" and "titan machinery" concepts — the compact blade looks like a piece of engineering gear rather than a fantasy artifact.
• It contrasts but pairs effectively with a rogue's dark leather armor: the cold sheen of the blade stands out against the dark background.
