Get Demon Hunter's Aspect

Demon Hunter's Aspect is a transformation toy that turns your character into a demon hunter from The Burning Crusade expansion for 5 minutes. On Horde characters it is a blood elf with a blazing brand-blindfold over the eyes, on the Alliance side a night elf of the same look. The effect keeps your equipped gear and weapons — the model stays "yours" in terms of transmog, only the race and the distinctive demonic makeup change.

The item was added to World of Warcraft in patch 4.3.2 (Cataclysm) as a reward for a code from a rare card of the Trading Card Game (TCG) — the War of the Ancients set. In patch 6.0.2 (Warlords of Draenor) the item was moved to the toy collection: from that point on it stopped taking up a bag slot and became account-bound.

The key feature is that this is the only historical way to look like a demon hunter before Legion was released. Until 2016 the class was completely unavailable to play, and owners of this toy remained almost the only players who could show off the signature blazing blindfold and the illidari look out in the regular world.

• A lore nod to the illidari of Outland. The look recreates a demon hunter from the days of The Burning Crusade — that very "classic" illidari, the way they first appeared in the Black Temple. It is historical value for collectors and lore enthusiasts.
• Transmog and weapon preservation. Unlike many transformation toys, your weapon stays visible on the new model. This lets you stage striking themed screenshots with paired blades or glaives.
• The look depends on your faction. The Alliance gets a night elf appearance, the Horde a blood elf. If you have characters on both factions, you effectively collect "two in one" — two different visuals from a single toy.
• Part of collection achievements. The toy counts toward your toy collection tally and brings you closer to the achievements Toying Around, Lord of the Toys, Remember to Share and Toy Box Mogul.
• Full freedom of action under the effect. You can mount up, fight, take damage and use any of your class abilities — the toy does not block gameplay, unlike many transformation toys.
• Account-wide status. After a single activation the toy unlocks on all characters of the account, of any faction and class. You never need to pay or farm a second time.

The Demon Hunter's Aspect is a TCG item, and you cannot obtain it through normal in-game means (mob drop, quest, reputation, in-game shop). There is only one source: a code from a rare card of the WoW Trading Card Game.

Step 1. Find and buy the card

The Demon Hunter's Aspect card is part of the War of the Ancients set — the tenth and one of the most popular TCG sets among collectors, released in the fall of 2011. The game itself has not been printed since 2013, so the cards are obtained only on the secondary market:

• eBay and foreign collectible marketplaces. The widest selection. The price of a single card at the time of writing this guide is about 20–25 dollars; it used to reach 100–150 dollars, but over the years the supply has grown.
• Specialized resources selling WoW items. On dedicated sites you can buy both the codes themselves and "delivery" services that grant the toy to your account. Prices vary — be sure to check against the dollar rate on eBay so you do not overpay.
• Classifieds and themed forums. Sometimes cards surface from private collectors selling off personal stashes. This is the riskiest route — check the seller's reputation and the code's history (the card may already be redeemed).

Note: the card's rarity in the set is roughly 1 in 121 booster packs. Buying sealed packs hoping to "pull" the card is economically unprofitable: the expected cost of such a hunt is dozens of times higher than buying a ready single card on the secondary market.

Step 2. Redeem the code on the Battle.net site

TCG codes are redeemed through a special page on the Battle.net site (the "WoW Management" → "Promotion Codes" section):

1. Log in to the site under the account you want to receive the toy on.
2. Enter the 25-character code printed on the back of the card under the protective film.
3. Select your region and game realm (server) from the list.
4. After confirmation you will receive a second, in-game code — it must be entered in the game itself.

The game remembers which character you intend to claim the reward on, so the second code will only work on the realm chosen during activation.

Step 3. Claim the toy from Landro Longshot

Landro Longshot is a goblin vendor of TCG rewards who greets players collecting all TCG items. He is easy to find:

• Zone: Booty Bay, Cape of Stranglethorn, Eastern Kingdoms.
• Exactly where: on the lower level of Booty Bay, near the dock and the mailbox. Landmark — he stands right by the water, near the pier.

How to claim the toy:

1. Travel to Booty Bay (hearthstone from Stormwind/Orgrimmar via the capital portal network or a direct flight from Gadgetzan).
2. Talk to Landro Longshot.
3. In the dialogue menu select the "Timewalkers: War of the Ancients" section.
4. In the reward list find "Demon Hunter's Aspect" and click on it.
5. Enter the second (in-game) code obtained on the Battle.net site.
6. The toy will appear in your bag. Activate it with a right-click to add it to your toy collection.

After that the item is unlocked on all characters of the account forever, and the card/code itself is no longer needed.

• Effect: transforms the character into a demon hunter of your faction's race. Alliance — a night elf illidari, Horde — a blood elf illidari. Gender, visible weapons and most transmog elements are preserved.
• Duration: 5 minutes of real time. When it expires the character automatically returns to the original model.
• Cooldown: 30 minutes. The cooldown is individual to this toy and is not shared with other transformation toys.
• Where it works: in the open world, cities, dungeons and raids. According to WoW TCG Loot, the effect is also preserved on battlegrounds — you can take part in a BG in the guise of a demon hunter.
• Where it does NOT work: in arenas the effect is automatically removed. It is similarly disabled in story instances where the game forcibly replaces your model.
• Removed by forms. Druids lose the toy's effect when shifting into bear, cat, tree or moonkin form. Likewise it falls off a shaman after Ghost Wolf and a warlock after Metamorphosis. Activate the toy only in your normal form.
• Full combat readiness. Unlike many toys, under the effect you can fight, take damage, mount up, use any class abilities and interact with objects without restrictions.
• Dances and emotes. The dance and joke emote animations are taken from the transformation race (blood elf or night elf) — a great moment for themed screenshots.
