Dimensional Ripper - Everlook

Overview

Dimensional Ripper - Everlook is a goblin engineering toy that "rips the wall between worlds apart" and carries its owner to the goblin town of Everlook in the Winterspring zone. The toy first appeared in World of Warcraft Classic as a Goblin Engineering specialization crafted item, and officially moved into the Toy Box collection with patch 7.0.3.

Using it casts the Dimensional Ripper - Everlook spell with a 4-hour cooldown. This cooldown is not shared with your hearthstone, so right after teleporting to Everlook you can additionally send yourself somewhere else with a hearthstone. Because the device was built by goblins, it occasionally malfunctions — usually harmlessly, but sometimes spectacularly.

True to goblin engineering spirit, the description warns outright: "Sometimes there are technical issues, but that's the whole charm of goblin mechanics."

Why You Want This Toy

  • Free teleport to northern Kalimdor. Winterspring is a remote snowy zone that takes a long flight to reach by normal routes. The toy solves this with a single click.
  • Doesn't share a cooldown with the hearthstone. You can jump to Everlook, instantly relocate further with the hearthstone, and effectively get two teleport points almost at once.
  • Account-wide collection unlock. After leveling the right engineer once, the toy stays available to every character on the account through the Toy Box.
  • Unique malfunctions. Turning into a kobold or an ogre, or appearing in the air above the town, turns a routine flight into a small show.
  • Counts toward collection achievements. Every new toy brings you closer to the Toy Box meta-achievements, such as Big Toy Box-er and Toying Around.

How to Get It

The toy is crafted — it cannot be bought and cannot be looted from a mob. To add it to your Toy Box, you need to learn the schematic, craft the device once, and use it.

  1. Level Engineering to at least 260 skill and choose the Goblin Engineering specialization. Picking the specialization requires a separate quest chain and is not available to those who took the Gnomish Engineering path — the two specializations cannot be held at the same time.
  2. Fly to the town of Everlook in the Winterspring zone — northeastern Kalimdor. The entrance to the town is off the main road.
  3. Find the goblin trainer Zap Farflinger. He stands by the teleport pad in the center of Everlook. Approximate coordinates: /way Winterspring 59.6 49.8 Zap Farflinger.
  4. Take the "Dimensional Ripper - Everlook" schematic from him — it is given for free to goblin engineers of the right level right in the profession training window.
  5. Gather the reagents and craft the device.
  6. Use the item once — it will automatically be added to your Toy Box and become available to every character on the account.

Crafting Reagents

A single Dimensional Ripper - Everlook requires the following materials (the item itself is bind-on-use, so you need to either use it yourself or hand it over before activation):

Material Quantity Where to Get
Mithril Bar 10 Blacksmithing from mithril ore
Truesilver Transformer 1 Crafted by an engineer
Heart of Fire 4 Drops from fire elementals
Star Ruby 2 Jewelcrafting / Mining
Goblin Sapper Charge 1 Crafted by a goblin engineer

If you are the engineer yourself, almost all components can be gathered without outside help. If not, the main expenses go toward scrolls, mithril and star rubies — they are easy to buy at the auction house.

Usage

Activation takes a few seconds of casting. Once it finishes you end up at or right next to the teleport pad in Everlook. The cooldown is 4 hours per character, counted from the moment of a successful cast.

  • Where it works: in the open world, in your own garrisons, in cities. In raids, dungeons, battlegrounds and arenas the teleport is blocked.
  • Cooldown with the hearthstone: not shared. You can immediately use the Hearthstone or its equivalents for a second jump.
  • Teleport malfunction. In most cases the transfer is clean, but roughly 10% of the time a side effect kicks in. Possible scenarios:
    • Appearing several dozen meters above the ground around Everlook — the landing is usually painless, but it is better to keep a parachute or a fall-softening ability in your inventory.
    • A brief transformation into a kobold or an ogre.
    • Getting the "Evil Twin" effect: your character is replaced by a double for about 2 hours.
    • Catching fire for 20 seconds with light fire damage.

All side effects are safe for your progress and quests — it is simply part of the goblin "gimmick".

Goblin or Gnome — Two Teleport Paths

Engineering offers two similar devices, but each is available to only one specialization:

Toy Specialization Teleports To Trainer
Dimensional Ripper - Everlook Goblin Engineering Everlook, Winterspring Zap Farflinger, Everlook
Ultrasafe Transporter: Gadgetzan Gnomish Engineering Gadgetzan, Tanaris Jhordy Lapforge, Gadgetzan

If you need both southern and northern Kalimdor, the only way to collect both teleports in one collection is to level Engineering on two different characters with different specializations.

Tips

1

Gear for falling. Before each use, keep a inv_misc_cape_11Parachute Cloak in your inventory or use class abilities (mage Slow Fall, priest Levitate, demon hunter Glide). The mid-air malfunction is rare, but checking your safeguard is nicer than checking the ground.

2

Combo with the hearthstone. The logical pair is a teleport to Everlook plus an immediate hearthstone to your capital or Oribos. That gives you two independent jumps in a row.

3

Use it on a current character. At the Midnight max level (90) the malfunctions pose no threat at all and resolve instantly.

4

Don't confuse it with combat bombs. The "Goblin Sapper Charge" reagent is a full-fledged engineering bomb. Don't use it while crafting in crowded areas, or you might accidentally blow up your neighbors.

5

Alternatives for reaching Winterspring. If you are not the engineer, you can get there via a mage portal to Winterspring, a chain of flights from Moonglade, or on foot from Feralas. The toy remains the fastest option if you have it.

6

Counts toward collection achievements. The toy goes into the overall collection count, so even if you don't need the teleport, crafting it once is worth it for the achievements.
