Overview

Druid and Priest Statue Set

Game iconDruid and Priest Statue Set is a rare night elf archaeology artifact added in the Cataclysm expansion (patch 4.0.3). In patch 6.0.2 Warlords of Draenor the item was moved into the Toy Box and became account-wide after the first use.

There is only one way to obtain the statues — assemble and solve the rare night elf project in the Archaeology profession. This requires 150 skill points and 100 Night Elf Archaeology Fragment, which are gathered at dig sites in Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms and Northrend. To speed up the solve, you are allowed to socket up to three keystones Game iconHighborne Scroll, each replacing 12 fragments.

The artifact's flavor text explains the lore: "It was an incredible change for our society when male elves were allowed to become priests and female elves druids. For millennia before that, both roles had been strictly reserved for the opposite sex. This pair of statues commemorates that momentous and exciting time."

Why You Want This Toy

  • Unique visual effect. When activated, a green pillar of light several stories high rises above your character for 10 seconds. There is no equivalent effect in the game — it is not a "cloud" like other toys, nor a mount particle emission, but a separate column of light with its own shape.
  • In-game lore reference. The statues echo one of the key moments in night elf history: the shift of gender roles among druids and priests after the War of the Ancients. The rising pillar of light symbolizes the "fountain of knowledge", that is, male elves being initiated into the mysteries of Elune.
  • Account-wide status. After the first activation, the toy stays in your Toy Box forever and is available to every character on the account — no need to farm archaeology again.
  • Counts toward collection achievements. It adds +1 to your toy counter for the meta-achievements Toying Around, Big-Time Toymaker and similar achievements at 200 and 300 items.
  • Bonus rewards along the way. While you farm night elf fragments for the statues, other rare artifacts of this race also fill your bag: Game iconHighborne Soul Mirror and Game iconBones of Transformation. The list of night elf rarities is small, so the chance of getting the artifact you need is higher than with trolls.

How to Get It

Step 1. Level Archaeology to 150

For rare night elf projects to start appearing, the profession must be leveled to at least 150 points. At the maximum Midnight level (90) this takes 1–2 hours: just learn it from a trainer in any capital and run 30–40 dig sites across the world. All dig sites are shown on the continental map as golden shovels.

It is useful to bring a quick teleport to any capital right away — for example, a hearthstone — to return between flights. A druid in flight form or a mount with a passive +20% to speed noticeably speeds up the gathering.

Step 2. Find Night Elf Dig Sites in Kalimdor

Dig sites appear 4 at a time on each continent (Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms, Northrend, Outland). The race of a dig site is determined by its zone — for night elves this is mostly Kalimdor. The best spots:

Zone Location Notes
[Ashenvale] Ordil'Aran, Sargeron The most frequent night elf dig site zone: 81 records for the object Night Elf Dig Site
Darkshore Ameth'Aran, Bashal'Aran A compact zone with short flights between dig sites
Felwood Morlos'Aran Convenient to combine with troll dig sites
Feralas Ruins of Isildien An additional spawn point

In the Eastern Kingdoms night elf dig sites appear rarely — the bulk there is troll and dwarf. In Northrend night elf dig sites occur in Icecrown and the Crystalsong Forest, but the density is lower than in Kalimdor.

Step 3. Gather Fragments and Solve the Project

  1. At the dig site, use the "Survey" ability — a tripod with a beam appears: red is far, yellow is medium, green is close.
  2. Move in the direction of the beam and use "Survey" again until you get a green signal at close range.
  3. On the third or fourth attempt a Night Elf Dig Site opens up — click it to receive a batch of fragments (usually 3–6, sometimes 9).
  4. Each dig site yields 3 batches, after which the dig site disappears and reappears elsewhere on the continent.
  5. Open the archaeology window (by default spellbook → Archaeology tab). If you have drawn the "Druid and Priest Statue Set" project — gather 100 fragments and press "Solve".

Important: you cannot choose a specific project. The race and the artifact type (common or rare) drop at random. So the actual farm means "solving every night elf project that drops until the rare one you need appears".

Step 4. Use Highborne Scrolls

Game iconHighborne Scroll is an uncommon keystone that occasionally drops from night elf finds. On the rare "Statue Set" project you can socket up to three scrolls at once — each cuts the requirement by 12 fragments. With three scrolls you will need not 100 but only 64 fragments to solve it.

If you do not have enough scrolls of your own — check the auction house. Scrolls are not soulbound and often sell for 200–800 gold each, which is an order of magnitude cheaper than farming the missing fragments by hand.

Usage

  • Effect: when activated, the toy summons a "Fountain of Knowledge" — a green pillar of light centered on your character, lasting 10 seconds.
  • Cooldown: 15 minutes.
  • Where it works: only under the open sky. Indoors, in instances and under the roofs of buildings the toy does not activate.
  • Dismounts you: activating it dismounts your character. The exception is a druid in flight form: it keeps the form and continues to fly with the effect.
  • A quirk for priests: in Shadowform the light pillar turns purple and the falling leaves turn golden. This is a unique variation of the effect that no other toy has.
  • In the collection forever: after the first activation by any character on the account, the statues stay in the collection and are available to all alts.

Tips

1

Solo farming is no problem. At the maximum Midnight level (90) no zone of old Kalimdor archaeology poses a threat — mobs die in a single hit. Pick your route by dig site density, not by zone level.

2

Run Kalimdor first. Four dig sites are active on each continent at once. In Kalimdor the share of night elf dig sites is the highest, so it makes sense to start your loop there. After exhausting Kalimdor's spots, switch to the Eastern Kingdoms so the Kalimdor ones can respawn.

3

Use a mount with an extra bag. Any "beetle"-class mount or one with increased carrying capacity lets you fly into town less often — especially if you combine archaeology with selling green loot and treasures.

4

Watch for Highborne Scrolls in your bag. Many players forget about keystones and solve rare projects "blind". Before pressing "Solve", always check whether you have scrolls in your inventory and socket up to three of them.

5

The perfect spot for the effect. The "Fountain of Knowledge" effect looks best on heights with open sky: Teldrassil at the foot of the Tree, the platforms in Suramar, the cliffs of the Arathi Highlands. In cities the effect is blocked by roofs — for screenshots, head outside the walls.

6

Priest and druid — a mandatory combo. If you have both a priest and a druid, spend 5 minutes in the Savage Coast: activate the statues on the priest in Shadowform to get the unique purple pillar, then on the druid in flight form to capture the rare variant with flying light.

7

Counts toward collection achievements. Even if you do not need the effect itself, +1 to your Toy Box brings you closer to Toying Around and Big-Time Toymaker, which unlock transmog rewards and collector titles.
