Overview

Elderoot Spire

Game iconElderoot Spire is an epic two-handed staff for intellect specializations: mages, priests, warlocks, shamans, druids, monks, and evokers. The model belongs to an art set styled after the ancient Haranir people from the Midnight expansion: an elongated finial of dark living wood, wrapped in roots and thin glowing veins, with a muted natural palette. It is a calm "nature-magic" silhouette without spikes or crystals that reads well at a distance.

The look itself and its name nod to the theme of the world tree's roots in Harandar — the primordial fungal forest that grew around the intertwined roots of the world trees. That makes the staff fitting for looks tied to nature, arcane magic, and the awakening power of the earth, rather than fire or the Light.

In terms of stats it is a 276 item-level piece (tracking "heroic" quality) that requires character level 90. In the current Midnight season such a staff will quickly be outpaced by stronger equivalents in raw power, but as a transmog look it stays available year-round — you don't have to wait for a raid season or a specific event.

Source

Elderoot Spire drops in Midnight delves — solo and small-group excursions. It is not a raid or profession item: its source is fully tied to the delve system and its currency.

There are two ways to get the staff:

  • Loot it from a bountiful chest in a high-level abundant delve. To open such a chest you need a Game iconRestored Coffer Key, which is assembled from fragments found out in the world.
  • Buy it directly from the delve vendor Zah'ran for Untainted Mana-Crystals. His weapons cost around 200 crystals.

Zah'ran is an ethereal who appears at the loot site after you clear a delve. He only starts trading "heroic"-tracking gear after rank 9 of "Seeker's Wayfaring" — the seasonal delve progression. Before that rank, neither the staff dropping from chests nor buying it from the vendor is available.

Untainted Mana-Crystals drop mostly from tier 11 bountiful chests and in smaller amounts from tiers 8 through 10. A weekly cap on this currency limits the pace: one or two such weapons per week is a normal farming rhythm.

The specific delves where this staff has been recorded are scattered across the Midnight zones — for example, Collegiate Calamity in Eversong, The Grudge Pit in Harandar, and Parhelion Plaza on the Isle of Quel'Danas. The look is identical no matter which delve you get it in.

Who it suits visually

  • Suits druids for balance and restoration looks — the silhouette reads as a "living" staff of wood and roots rather than a crystalline rod.
  • Harmonizes with a natural palette: green, teal, and gray-brown fabrics, where the dark wood of the finial and the glowing veins act as an accent.
  • Looks great on shaman looks themed around earth and the elements, as well as on evokers who lean into a natural rather than fiery theme.
  • Contrasts with bright plate armor — a debatable but interesting choice for a "wandering mage" look over a heavy set.
  • Fits monochrome warlock looks in dark tones, where the soft glow of the finial becomes the only source of color.

Tips

1

First level up "Seeker's Wayfaring" to rank 9: before that, Elderoot Spire is unavailable from both chests and the vendor Zah'ran.

2

Stockpile fragments out in the world to assemble Restored Coffer Keys — without a key you can't open the bountiful chest that has a chance at the staff.

3

If you need the look guaranteed, deliberately save up Untainted Mana-Crystals and buy the staff from Zah'ran rather than hoping for a random drop.

4

Run high-level abundant delves: those are what grant the currency and a chance at a bountiful chest, whereas ordinary excursions don't yield rewards of this tier.

5

Keep the weekly cap on mana-crystals in mind — plan which weapon or item you want to spend them on first.

6

The look is added to your appearance collection the moment you obtain the item, so you only need to loot or buy the staff once and apply it.

7

Secondary stat quality doesn't matter for transmog — take any dropped copy of the look you need, even if the stats don't suit you.
