G'Hanir, the Mother Tree — Transmog Set Guide

G'Hanir, the Mother Tree is a two-handed artifact staff for the druid's Restoration specialization, added in the Legion expansion. It is an ancient living rod crowned with a canopy of intertwined branches and leaves, glowing softly with the green light of nature magic. According to legend, G'Hanir grew at the foot of Shaladrassil in Val'sharah and was considered the first healer tree, drawing the wounded beasts of the Emerald Dream to its boughs. When the Emerald Nightmare consumed the tree, its core had to be cleansed anew.

As a combat weapon, the staff only functioned in Legion: when equipped, it granted the ability Essence of G'Hanir and was removed from the active rotation with the release of Battle for Azeroth. Today the item is valued primarily as a transmog — a set of unique models and color variants available to any druid through the wardrobe once the corresponding appearances are unlocked.

G'Hanir is awarded during the druid class campaign. The base appearance is unlocked through the introductory artifact quest, which becomes available to a druid character upon entering Legion content.

• The starting chain is given by Keeper Remulos in the druid class hall — The Dreamgrove.
• Over the course of the quest you are sent to the dryad Miluna and then on to the druid Naralex at Tel'anor Barrow, who transports the hero into the Emerald Dream.
• In the Dream you must cross a stretch of mounting corruption, avoiding the Nightmare's spawns, and reach G'Hanir itself.
• The finale is the quest Cleansing the Mother Tree: the staff is purified in the sacred waters beneath Nordrassil on Mount Hyjal, while you fend off the forces of the Legion.

If you skipped the artifact back in the day, you can still claim it by returning to the druid class campaign in Legion — the quest is still there and can be completed solo.
