Goblin Screwdriver — Transmog Set Guide

Goblin Screwdriver is a one-handed dagger of rare quality with a model shaped like a crude mechanical screwdriver. Instead of the usual blade, the item has a short faceted tip with a handle that resembles a tool from a goblin engineer's workshop. Because of this, the "Goblin Screwdriver" has long been a popular choice for looks with goblin and engineering themes: in a character's hands, the dagger reads not as a combat weapon but as a working tool.

The item belongs to old World of Warcraft content and has existed in the game since the classic version. In update 4.0.3a it was removed from the game, and then brought back in patch 10.1.7 of the Dragonflight expansion — which is exactly why the screwdriver can be obtained again and its appearance unlocked in the appearances collection. The item's combat stats no longer matter today: the dagger is interesting purely as a transmog appearance.

The item's icon is a short dark blade, and the model itself is easily recognized by its distinctive "screwdriver" silhouette. The appearance is available to characters who can wield daggers: rogues, druids, mages, warlocks, priests, demon hunters, as well as warriors and hunters.

The main feature of the "Goblin Screwdriver" is that it cannot be dropped by an ordinary mob. In the current version of the game, the item is obtained by fishing in the The Deadmines dungeon. This makes the dagger an unusual trophy: to get it, you need not a boss fight but a fishing rod and a little patience.

What you need to know about obtaining it:

• The The Deadmines dungeon is located in the Westfall zone, with the entrance in the town of Moonbrook in the southwest of the zone.
• The Deadmines is a low-level dungeon (range 7-30 levels), so a character of any modern level clears it without resistance.
• Inside the dungeon there are bodies of water — that is exactly where you need to cast your rod. The "Goblin Screwdriver" drops from the general catch, like other "junk fish."
• A fishing skill is not required for the item to appear in your catch, but with a leveled-up skill fishing goes more steadily and pleasantly.
• The chance to pull the dagger in a single cast is low, so plan on a series of casts rather than an instant result.

It is more convenient to enter the dungeon solo: combat with the inhabitants of the Deadmines poses no threat to a modern character, and you can calmly reach the water and focus on fishing. The appearance unlocks in the appearances collection as soon as the item lands in your bags — you do not need to wear or equip the dagger for this.
