Overview

Gorehowl, Might of the Warchief

Game iconGorehowl, Might of the Warchief is a two-handed axe, the legendary weapon of Grom Hellscream, warchief of the Horde. This is an updated model of the iconic axe: a massive crescent blade with a jagged edge, rough handle wrapping, and a brutal orcish silhouette. The appearance suits classes that wield two-handed axes: warriors, paladins, and death knights.

This weapon is a nod to one of the most famous artifacts in the history of World of Warcraft: the very axe with which Grom slew the demon Mannoroth. The dark steel and predatory shape of the blade make this look an unconditional choice for orcish and "warchief" outfits where you need the most aggressive presentation possible. The item was added in the Dragonflight expansion.

Source

The axe is obtained in the Dawn of the Infinite megadungeon from the final boss of its first half.

  • The item drops from Grommash Hellscream — a boss in the Dawn of the Infinite: Galakrond's Fall wing.
  • The listed drop chance is low, around 2%, so be prepared for several runs.
  • The dungeon is Dragonflight content and is completed by a small group of five players.
  • In Mythic+ mode the bosses are the same as in regular Mythic, so you can farm the axe at any difficulty level you find convenient.
  • The drop is random and not time-limited: you can re-enter the dungeon and try again.

Alternatives

This model has no color recolors in the database — it is a unique, updated appearance of Gorehowl.

  • The game also contains an older, classic model of the same axe from earlier eras; it differs in detail but repeats the same recognizable silhouette.
  • If you want a similar predatory two-handed axe in the orcish style, take a look at the weapons of the Horde clans and the general catalog of two-handed axe appearances on Wowhead. There are currently no exact recolors of this particular version.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Ideal for orcish looks and outfits in the Warsong clan style: dark metal and a brutal shape support the warchief theme.
  • Harmonizes with red-and-black and leather-and-rivet sets built around an aggressive warrior aesthetic.
  • Looks great in berserker and champion-warrior looks, where the weapon should be the focal point.
  • Contrasts with light elven armor — a debatable but striking technique if you need a rough accent.

Tips

1

To farm the axe, re-enter the Dawn of the Infinite: Galakrond's Fall wing and kill Grommash Hellscream — he is the final boss of this half.

2

The drop chance is low, so plan for regular runs rather than one or two clears.

3

The appearance is identical at all difficulty levels, so there is no need to chase a high key for the looks.

4

The appearance collection is account-wide: get the axe once and it unlocks for all your characters.

5

For a themed orcish look, pair the axe with plate armor in dark tones with spikes and rivets.

6

The dungeon can be cleared quickly at current level, so farming this appearance is a convenient goal for repeated runs.
