Greatsword of the Ebon Blade is a rare-quality two-handed sword that Death Knights receive at the very start of their journey. It is a massive blade with a wide edge, runic engravings, and the distinctive grim aesthetic of the Ebon Blade order. The sword has been one of the most recognizable Death Knight looks ever since Wrath of the Lich King and still remains a popular choice for themed sets.

The item is class-restricted — only a Death Knight can wield it and collect its appearance. For transmogrification, only the look matters: once obtained, it is saved to the appearance collection and becomes available to every Death Knight on the account.

The sword is awarded during the Death Knight starting quest chain, which unfolds in the floating bastion of Acherus and the Plaguelands.
