Gurthalak, Voice of the Deeps is an epic-quality two-handed sword from the Cataclysm expansion, one of the most recognizable transmogs in the game. The blade is rendered in a dark blue-purple palette with an organic "ancient" silhouette that evokes the Old Gods and creatures from the deep.

The main reason for its cult popularity isn't the model but the combat effect: on melee hits, the sword has a chance to summon a tentacle from the deep that fights alongside its wielder for 12 seconds. This effect still works today, which makes Gurthalak more than just a cosmetic item — it's a weapon with a unique gimmick.

The sword can be worn by every class that uses two-handed swords. There are two versions of the same appearance — normal and heroic; they look identical, so either one will do for transmog.

The sword drops in the Dragon Soul raid — the final raid of the Cataclysm expansion.
