Get Heartpierce

Heartpierce is an epic one-handed dagger from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, added with the opening of Icecrown Citadel in patch 3.3. It is a short blade with a serrated edge in a cold bluish-steel hue and a dark bone hilt — the model fits the grim Scourge styling of the entire raid and reads clearly even from a distance.

The dagger has a fast attack speed (1.80) and suits specializations that wield daggers in the main or off hand: rogues, feral druids, shamans, and warlocks for the off hand. On modern servers the item is interesting primarily as a transmogrification piece rather than as a combat weapon.

The dagger carries the combat effect Invigoration: melee attacks have a chance to restore 4 energy, 2 rage, or some mana over 10 seconds. The effect is irrelevant for transmog, but it sets this item apart from ordinary daggers in the same visual lineup.

Heartpierce drops from the loot of Lady Deathwhisper — the second boss of the raid Icecrown Citadel. This is a Wrath of the Lich King-era raid located in Icecrown.

There are two versions of the dagger with different glow models:

Both versions drop only from the 25-player modes: the dagger is not in the loot table of the 10-player raids. The heroic variant not only drops noticeably more often but also looks richer thanks to a more pronounced dark glow along the edge of the blade.

A few practical notes on farming:

• Icecrown Citadel has long since become solo content — a max-level character clears the raid alone with ease.
• Lady Deathwhisper stands right after the first boss, so you reach her in just a couple of minutes.
• The raid reset is weekly, so each character can be sent to kill the boss once a week.
• It is most efficient to farm with several characters on the account at once: this multiplies the number of attempts per week.

• It pairs with plate and mail sets in bluish-steel and icy tones — for example, with the Wrath of the Lich King Tier 10 from the same Icecrown Citadel.
• It looks good in sets with bone and Scourge motifs: the dagger supports an undead and Scourge theme.
• It suits grim rogue looks that call for a short serrated blade without a bright colored glow.
• It contrasts with warm leather armor in earthy tones — the cold blade looks alien against such a backdrop, and this can be used as a deliberate device.
• The heroic version with its darker glow fits better in fully black-and-purple looks, while the normal one suits neutral steel.
