Hellrender — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Hellrender is an epic two-handed axe added in the Warlords of Draenor expansion alongside the Hellfire Citadel raid (patch 6.2). This is a massive weapon of demonic forging. Its appearance is true to the signature style of the Burning Legion and fits perfectly with looks in a green-and-black palette.
As a combat weapon, the axe has long been outdated — its stats are tuned for Draenor levels, and at level 90 it is useless. Its value lies purely in its appearance: the model is sought after by warriors, death knights, and paladins who collect "demonic" sets. Thanks to its bright Fel glow, the axe stands out clearly even from a distance.
Source
Hellrender drops from one of the bosses in the Hellfire Citadel raid — the final raid of the Warlords of Draenor expansion.
- The axe drops from the boss Fel Lord Zakuun, the first enemy of the "Destructor's Rise" wing.
- The item is available on every raid difficulty — Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic — so the easiest approach is to farm it on the lowest difficulty.
- Zakuun is located at the start of his wing, so you can reach him quickly without clearing the entire raid.
- The drop chance is standard for raid weapons, so it may take several weekly runs.
- Additionally, a similar axe was occasionally available as a reward for garrison follower missions, but the main and reliable source for farming the appearance is the drop from Zakuun.
Visually Suitable For
- Harmonizes with "demonic" plate sets in a green-and-black palette — looks in the spirit of the Burning Legion.
- Looks great on death knights with glowing green Fel rune elements.
- Contrasts with the bright plate of a paladin if you are building a "fallen champion" concept.
- Suits warriors who emphasize an aggressive, "hellish" weapon silhouette.
- Pairs well with color schemes that feature poisonous-green accents of Fel fire.
Tips
1
The fastest way to farm is to enter the raid through Raid Finder: Zakuun stands at the start of the wing, and you can kill him every week for a chance at the drop.
2
The entire raid can be soloed at level 90 without any trouble — the content is several expansions out of date and does not require a group.
3
The drop limit is weekly for Raid Finder mode, so it makes sense to bring several characters to the farm to increase the number of attempts.
4
Do not waste time clearing the whole raid for this appearance — it is enough to reach Zakuun in his wing.
5
The appearance is bound to the item itself, so only classes that wield two-handed axes can pick it up: warriors, paladins, and death knights.
6
If you are collecting other Hellfire Citadel appearances at the same time, it is more worthwhile to clear the full raid — the other bosses also drop rare weapon and armor models.
