Illidari-Bane Claymore — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Illidari-Bane Claymore is a rare-quality two-handed sword added to World of Warcraft with the Burning Crusade expansion. It is a massive straight blade with a broad edge and a strict, almost knightly guard — a model from the early "Outland" line of weapons, free of unnecessary ornamentation and therefore easy to read in any outfit.
Beyond its appearance, the item has a thematic quirk: when equipped, it grants "+7 Attack Power when fighting demons." This has no effect on transmog, but it underscores the weapon's lore — the blade was forged against the Illidari and the minions of the Legion.
The item level is 80, which corresponds to content around level 27-29 on the modern scale. For a collector this means only one thing: you can obtain the model very early and quickly, as soon as you reach Shadowmoon Valley.
Source
The claymore is given as one of the rewards for the quest "Quenching the Blade" in Shadowmoon Valley — the last Outland zone from the Burning Crusade expansion.
The chain centers around Wayne's Refuge in the southwest of the zone. The quest giver is David Wayne, a survivor among the local settlers. Over the course of the tasks you forge the blade, and in "Quenching the Blade" you carry it to the Scalding Pools at the foot of the Hand of Gul'dan and temper it in the lakes of lava. After that, you must return to David Wayne at Wayne's Refuge and choose your reward.
Key details about the source:
- The reward is given once per character — the quest cannot be turned in again.
- This is a quest with a choice of reward: the sword, a dagger, and a caster dagger are offered at the same time, and you can take only one item (see the "Alternatives" section).
- The item "Binds when picked up," so you cannot mail it to another character — the model is unlocked only for the one who completed the quest.
- Shadowmoon Valley requires no separate attunement: it is enough to enter Outland through the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands and fly to the zone.
Wayne's Refuge coordinate for routing:
Who It Suits Visually
- It suits "stern" knightly and paladin looks — the strict guard and broad blade pair well with heavy plate armor.
- It harmonizes with steel and silver-gray sets without bright accents — the blade does not draw attention to itself.
- It fits thematic anti-demon and anti-Legion sets thanks to the weapon's lore — for example, in demon hunter or crusader-warrior looks.
- It contrasts with dark and crimson Fel sets — a debatable but expressive choice of "a bright blade against the darkness."
Tips
The fastest route to the reward is to fly to Wayne's Refuge in the southwest of Shadowmoon Valley and pick up the chain from David Wayne.
Decide in advance which of the three items you want: after turning in the quest, the choice cannot be changed.
If you are collecting all three models, keep several characters ready — the quest is one-time.
Shadowmoon Valley can be cleared solo without trouble; the quest fight does not require a group.
The bonus damage against demons makes the claymore a handy "lore" weapon for screenshots in Legion-themed locations, although it no longer affects combat stats at max level.
When plotting your route, use flight: the Scalding Pools by the Hand of Gul'dan are in the northeast of the zone, and traveling on foot takes noticeably longer.
