Ironclaw Stiletto — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Ironclaw Stiletto is a rare one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft with the The War Within expansion. It is a short blade from the earthen weapon model set of Khaz Algar: the blade is dark, with a cold metallic sheen, while the hilt is decorated with restrained engraving in the spirit of dwarven smithing culture. The look is understated, with no glow or magical effects — the dagger relies on a rough, functional shape rather than flashiness.
The dagger can be worn by any class that has access to daggers: rogue, mage, warlock, priest, druid, shaman, and demon hunter. For transmogrification, only the appearance itself matters — once the item is crafted at least once, its look is saved to your account-wide appearance collection, and you do not have to keep the dagger equipped to unlock the appearance.
Source
The Ironclaw Stiletto is an item crafted with the Blacksmithing profession. It is one of the early weapon recipes of the Khaz Algar branch, so you can obtain the appearance without raids or dungeons — your own blacksmith or an order placed at the crafting table is enough.
Key crafting facts:
- The
Ironclaw Stiletto recipe is learned from the blacksmithing trainer at the early levels of the Khaz Algar profession; there is no separate schematic to buy. - The blacksmithing trainer is Darean; she can be found in the capital of Dornogal on the Isle of Dorn, near the forge in the Outskirts district.
- Crafting requires 5 units of
Ironclaw Ore and 1 unit of
Core Alloy. - Ironclaw Ore is mined with the Mining profession on the Isle of Dorn and in the Ringing Deeps, while Core Alloy is smelted by a blacksmith from the same ore.
- The finished dagger becomes soulbound when equipped, so you need to either craft the appearance with your own blacksmith or obtain it through the crafting table and equip it yourself.
If you do not have the Blacksmithing profession yourself, place a crafting order at the crafting table in Dornogal: any blacksmith who has learned the recipe will fill it, and all you have to do is equip the dagger to record the appearance into your collection.
Who It Suits Visually
- Looks in the smithing-culture style of the earthen and dwarves of Khaz Algar — the dagger echoes the rough metallic armor of The War Within.
- Rogue builds focused on a simple combat tool without magic or glow — the neutral dark blade does not steal attention.
- Paired looks from two items of the same set: the Ironclaw Stiletto in one hand and the Ironclaw Cutlass in the other create a unified silhouette.
- Sets in a cold gray-steel palette where a short blade of strict form is needed.
- Themed miner or craftsman sets in which the weapon looks like a working tool rather than a trophy.
Tips
The fastest route to the appearance is to craft the dagger with your own blacksmith: the recipe is learned early, and the reagents are inexpensive.
If you do not have the profession, do not level it for a single appearance — it is cheaper to place an order at the crafting table in Dornogal.
Ironclaw Ore is convenient to farm on the Isle of Dorn: there are many veins there, and at the same time you will gather material for Core Alloy as well.
Craft the dagger at minimum quality — for recording the appearance, the item level and its quality do not matter.
The appearance is recorded into the appearance collection at the moment of equipping, so a dagger obtained via an order must be equipped at least for a moment.
After it is recorded, the appearance is available to all characters on the account that are allowed daggers, regardless of faction and class.
In a single visit to the blacksmithing trainer Darean, you also learn the recipes of related weapons — the Ironclaw Cutlass and the Ironclaw Sword, so the whole set of appearances is collected in parallel.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
