Overview

Lightgrasp Worldroot

Game iconLightgrasp Worldroot is a two-handed melee staff from the Midnight expansion. The model is built around the image of a living root of the world tree: intertwined tendrils wind along the shaft, crowned with a glowing finial in warm golden-green tones that evoke the nature magic of the haranir people. The silhouette is massive and organic, with no metal inlays — this is a "grown" staff rather than a forged weapon.

This is item level 276 gear on the "Hero" upgrade track, requiring level 90. The staff is intended for specializations that use intellect: mages, druids, priests, shamans, warlocks, monks and evokers. Beyond its stats, it has a use effect Game iconLightgrasp Worldroot that banishes a hostile aberration and prevents it from acting for 30 seconds, but it only works in raids.

Source

The staff is obtained in the raid The Voidspire — the first raid of the Midnight expansion's season, located in Quel'Thalas. The raid consists of six bosses and concludes with a clash against the final opponent.

  • Available on Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic difficulties.
  • The item level scales with difficulty: from Raid Finder to the Mythic version, the loot becomes higher.
  • The applied banishment effect targets aberrations, which directly ties into the Void theme of this raid.
  • The loot drops from the raid bosses, so for transmog it makes sense to clear the raid weekly on the right specialization.

Alternatives

This staff currently has no confirmed color variations outside the raid The Voidspire. Staves with a similar "woody" and natural look are worth seeking among rewards of the same expansion and the haranir theme.

  • Lightgrasp Worldroot — the staff in question, the base color from the raid The Voidspire.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Fits guardian druid looks and nature sets in a green-and-gold palette.
  • Harmonizes with world tree and nature magic sets from the Midnight expansion.
  • Contrasts strikingly with "holy" priest sets thanks to the warm golden glow of the finial.
  • Suitable for shaman and evoker looks where an organic, "living" weapon aesthetic matters.

Tips

1

Take the staff on a character with a suitable intellect specialization, otherwise it won't drop for you under the personal loot system.

2

Clear the raid weekly: the higher the difficulty, the higher the item level and the more often the desired loot appears.

3

For transmog alone, any difficulty down to Raid Finder will do — the appearance does not depend on item level.

4

The applied banishment effect only works in raids, so in the open world the staff is valuable purely as transmog.

5

If you are assembling a themed "nature" look, pair the staff with a druid armor set from the same expansion.

6

The appearance unlocks in the transmog collection after any character on the account obtains the item.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
