Lionheart Executioner — Transmog Set Guide

Lionheart Executioner is an epic two-handed sword added to World of Warcraft with The Burning Crusade expansion. It is the final, third tier of the Lionheart blacksmithing line: a broad blade with angular triangular teeth fanning out from the edge and a massive golden guard shaped like a lion's head. Its silhouette is noticeably more aggressive than the earlier tiers — the Lionheart Blade, Reborn and the Lionheart Champion have a longer, smoother blade, while the Executioner is broken up by intersecting facets.

This is a two-handed weapon, so the model suits warriors, death knights, paladins, and any character who wields two-handed swords. The coloring is warm: steel with golden inlays and crimson accents at the base of the blade. Despite its age and low item level, the look remains sought after for heraldic "lion" outfits of Stormwind and the Alliance.

There are two ways to obtain this appearance, both tied to blacksmithing.

Original recipe (The Burning Crusade). Lionheart Executioner was originally crafted by a blacksmith with the "Weaponsmith — Swordsmith" specialization. The finished sword was assembled from the previous tier of the line — the Lionheart Champion — and rare Outland reagents. However, this recipe can no longer be learned: in Cataclysm all weaponsmithing trainers were switched over to regular blacksmithing, and the plan remained only with those masters who had learned it earlier. For a new character this path is closed.

The modern path — "Reborn" (Mists of Pandaria). Patch 5.2 introduced a line of reborn classic blades on the Isle of Thunder. A blacksmith receives the crafting notes by turning in a special ingot to the forge master on the Isle of Thunder, after which the recipes for the reborn swords become available. The line is built as a chain: Lionheart Blade, Reborn upgrades into Lionheart Champion, Reborn, and that one into the final tier, Lionheart Executioner, Reborn. The appearance of the "Reborn" version is identical to the original — and that is exactly how this look is unlocked today.

Main reagents of the reborn line:

• Lightning Steel Ingot — the key material. It is crafted from 10 Ghost Iron Bars, but only once per day, so it is what dictates the pace of the build.
• Living Steel — transmuted by an alchemist or bought from the auction house.
• Spirit of Harmony — gathered from Pandaria materials.

The finished "Reborn" tier binds when equipped, so you can craft the sword for yourself, for sale, or on commission for another player.

• Fits heraldic Alliance and Stormwind outfits — the golden lion guard echoes the kingdom's symbolism.
• Harmonizes with plate sets in steel and gold, for example with the classic-look paladin and warrior tier sets.
• Looks great in warm red-and-gold sets thanks to the crimson accents at the base of the blade.
• Contrasts with dark and shadowy armor — a debatable but striking combination for "light against darkness" outfits.
• Appropriate for death knight looks where a massive, angular two-handed sword model is needed.
