Overview

Насыщенный маной меч магистра

Game iconMagister's Mana Sword is a one-handed sword of epic (purple) quality added in the Midnight expansion. The blade is styled after the high elf aesthetic of Silvermoon: an elegant slim guard, light metal on the edge and magical runes lit up by streams of pure mana. The look conveys the motif of the magisters of Quel'Thalas well — scholar-mages for whom a weapon is inseparable from the mastery of arcane power.

This is a full-fledged piece of equipment rather than a cosmetic illusion: the sword has stats and an item level, but in the appearance collection it is valued above all for its looks. You can obtain it through the Blacksmithing profession — it is crafted from a separate plan. Right after it is created the sword becomes soulbound, so it cannot be passed to another character.

Source

The Magister's Mana Sword is crafted with Blacksmithing in Midnight. It is not a boss drop: to obtain it you need a character with a leveled profession and the learned plan.

  • Profession — Midnight Blacksmithing. Learning the recipe requires the corresponding specialization skill level (around 50 points in the weaponsmith branch).
  • Recipe — Game iconPlans: Magister's Mana Sword. It is sold by the blacksmithing plans supplier in the blood elf capital, Silvermoon, for a token amount of gold.
  • The sword belongs to the weaponsmithing branch (long blades), so it is more convenient to craft for a blacksmith who has invested knowledge points specifically into weapons.
  • To assemble it you will need current-expansion blacksmithing materials — ingots and reagents gathered through Mining or bought on the auction house.
  • The finished sword binds to the character on creation, so you will have to craft it on the character who will wear the appearance. If you do not have the profession yourself, ask a fellow blacksmith or a second character on your account.

Alternatives

The Magister's Mana Sword is part of the line of Midnight elven crafted weapons made from plans out of Silvermoon. If you are putting together an arcane magister look, take note of the related blades of the same blacksmithing branch:

No separate recolors of this particular sword have been recorded at the moment. Look for light blades with similar silhouettes and magical lighting among the elven weapons of Quel'Thalas and the rewards from Midnight dungeons.

Who it suits visually

  • Perfectly complements the looks of mages, warlocks and blood knights of Silvermoon — the arcane glow of the blade echoes the theme of Quel'Thalas.
  • Harmonizes with plate and mail sets in light golden-silver tones with the red and purple accents of the blood elves.
  • Suits classes that wield one-handed swords in pairs — warriors, paladins, rogues and demon hunters.
  • Looks great dual-wielded with a second light blade — the image of a disciplined fencer-mage.
  • Contrasts with the dark armor of the Legion or the undead if you need a "pure magic against corruption" accent.

Tips

1

If you do not have Blacksmithing, plan ahead: it is easier to level the profession on an alt or commission the craft from a player who has the right plan.

2

Before learning the recipe, make sure you have invested knowledge points into the weaponsmithing branch — without it you cannot learn the plan.

3

Stock up on Midnight blacksmithing materials in advance: ingot prices on the auction house fluctuate, so it is cheaper to buy them when there is a surplus.

4

The sword becomes soulbound on creation, so craft it right away on the character who needs the appearance.

5

Once you unlock the appearance through the collection, you will be able to apply it via transmogrification to any suitable one-handed weapon.

6

If you are planning a full magister look, craft the sword together with the elven armor of Silvermoon — a unified style looks cohesive.
