Mindfang — Transmog Set Guide

Mindfang is an epic-quality one-handed dagger added back in the original version of the game as a PvP reward from the Arathi Basin battleground. It is a light piercing weapon with an attack speed of 1.80 and a recognizable silhouette of a thin curved blade on a twisted hilt with dark metal plating.

For a modern player the dagger is interesting purely as a transmog: the item's stats lost their relevance long ago, but the model remains a recognizable PvP classic from the era of the standoff between the League of Arathor and the Defilers.

The item binds when picked up and is available to any class that can use daggers: rogue, warlock, mage, priest, druid, shaman, and demon hunter. After the first acquisition the model unlocks in the wardrobe tab and becomes available to all suitable characters on the account.

An important nuance — the dagger is available only to the Horde. The Alliance has its own set of Arathi Basin PvP rewards, but those are different models with different appearances.

The dagger is sold by Rutherford Twing — the quartermaster of the Defilers faction. This is a Horde NPC who stands at the entrance to the Arathi Basin battleground in the Arathi Highlands.

• Price — 3 Marks of Honor.
• Binds on purchase, you cannot transfer it from an alt to your main.
• Required character level — 25.
• Available only to the Horde. For the Alliance, similar PvP rewards are sold by Samuel Hawke at the battleground entrance on the Alliance side, but the Mindfang dagger is a Horde faction reward and is absent from his assortment.
• Stock at the vendor is unlimited — you can buy any quantity for alts.
• Vendor coordinates: /way 68.4 30.4 Arathi Highlands.

Marks of Honor are a universal PvP currency that replaced the former tokens of individual battlegrounds. They are awarded for participation in any random battlegrounds:

• Winning a random battleground — 1 mark.
• Additional marks for wins in Epic Battleground and Random Battle modes.
• Marks are also granted for the weekly Call to Arms PvP quests.

To close out the farm faster, it is optimal to take the weekly PvP quests for participating in and winning battlegrounds — they hand out several Marks of Honor in a single run. One or two lucky evenings of random battlegrounds are enough to buy the dagger.

If the goal is to gather the full Defilers faction set in the same style, the rest of the Horde quartermasters with one-handed swords, bows, staves, and armor sets from the same season stand next to Rutherford. They are all sold for Marks of Honor, so it makes sense to stock up the currency for several items at once.

The dagger is not tied to difficulty or once-a-week restrictions — it is an indefinite reward that can be bought at any moment as long as you have the currency.

• Demonology warlock builds with an emphasis on ritual blades in the caster's hand.
• Faction War-era Horde sets — Defilers kits with the same red-and-black motifs and metal plating.
• Stealthy demon hunter outfits with dark leather armor — the narrow blade reads as a finishing knife on the belt.
• A contrast with light cloth robes in pale shades: against white or gold armor, the dark steel becomes a noticeable accent in the hand.
