Moon Blade — Transmog Set Guide

Moon Blade is a one-handed dagger of uncommon (green) quality, added to World of Warcraft in The Burning Crusade expansion.

Mechanically it is a classic "green" dagger of the early TBC era. The item binds when equipped, so it is valuable not as a combat weapon but as a transmog appearance — a cold silvery-blue blade with a lunar theme that fits well into light sets for rogues, hunters, and enhancement shamans.

The model's silhouette makes the Moon Blade a convenient replacement for standard TBC daggers in night elf sets and in any builds built around a lunar or elven aesthetic.

The Moon Blade is a mass world drop from Outland mobs (level 20–30 zones). This means it has no single "correct" farming spot: it drops from a large number of creatures in TBC zones, most often as a rare green drop with an additional quality loss on each kill.

• Source type: drops from regular mobs, not from bosses or rare NPCs.
• Group or solo: farms solo without any trouble — all sources are non-elite or weakly elite at your character's current level.
• Attempt limit: unlimited, there are no cooldowns on killing mobs.
• Binding: becomes soulbound when equipped, so before trying it on you can buy or sell the dagger at the auction house.

The key and most well-known source is the Aged Clefthoof, a clefthoof beast of level 29–78. Aged Clefthoofs graze in large numbers in the southern and central parts of Nagrand — that very savanna zone of Outland with its giant clefthoofs and ogres.

For farming the Moon Blade for transmog, it is most convenient to head to Nagrand: dense packs of Aged Clefthoofs on open terrain let you quickly cut down large herds. On an alt character at the current level, a run takes a few minutes.

• Rogues with night elf sets in cold silvery-blue tones — the blade echoes the lunar palette of the class's armor in TBC.
• Hunters who keep a dagger in their main hand for the agility stats: the Moon Blade looks more expensive than most quest greens of this level.
• Shapeshifting druids who carry a dagger "for show" in caster form — the model fits the elven aesthetic and looks good with light leather armor.
• Enhancement shamans and monks assembling builds on the theme of "lunar hunter" or "priest of Elune" — the blade harmonizes with cloaks and shoulders based on Moon Priestess motifs.
• Any cross-class builds in a cold palette: silver, mithril, ice, moonstone.
