Mossy Mammoth
Overview

Mossy Mammoth is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 10.0.7 of the Dragonflight expansion. It is an ancient mammoth covered in moss and greenery, awakened with the help of the magic of all five dragonflights. The mount is obtained by sequentially combining six reagents found in the chests of the Zskera Vaults on the territory of The Forbidden Reach.
In appearance, the Mossy Mammoth resembles a prehistoric mammoth whose body is overgrown with thick moss and fresh greenery. It has massive tusks and a calm gait that creates the feeling of an ancient forest spirit.
Why You Want This Mount
- Unique model — the Mossy Mammoth has an original model with moss and vegetation across its entire body. Among the hundreds of mounts in the game, mammoths like this are a rarity
- Engaging acquisition process — instead of mundane farming or buying, you go through a chain of alchemical combinations involving the magic of all five dragonflights. Each step brings you closer to awakening the ancient creature
- Guaranteed result — all reagents appear in the Zskera Vaults with a 100% chance. There is no random drop from a boss here — it is only a matter of time
- Available to all characters — once obtained, the mount becomes available on all characters on the account
- Companion included — the mount comes with a themed pet, Trunkalumpf, which is designed in the same green mammoth style
Requirements
- A character of level 70+ (for access to the Forbidden Reach)
- The Apprentice Riding skill (available from level 10)
- The completed introductory quest chain of the Forbidden Reach (unlocks the Zskera Vaults)
- Approximately 20–30 Zskera Vault keys to collect all the reagents
- Several weeks of weekly visits to the vault (reagents are scattered across different rooms and appear randomly)
How to Reach the Zskera Vaults
The Zskera Vaults are an underground complex of rooms on the territory of the Forbidden Reach where artifacts and resources are stored. The entrance is located in the village of Morqut.
First Visit
- Arrive at the Forbidden Reach via the portal on the Dragon Isles or from your faction capital
- Complete the zone's introductory quest chain — it is short and will automatically lead you to the vault
- After completing the introductory quests, the entrance to the Zskera Vaults will open permanently
- Each
Zskera Vault Key opens one sealed room
Obtaining Keys
Vault keys are obtained in several ways:
- Rare opponents on the Forbidden Reach — the main source, each rare mob has a high chance of dropping a key
- Chests and treasures scattered across the zone
- Weekly tasks of the Forbidden Reach
- Purchase for Dragon Isles Supplies — since patch 10.1.5, faction envoys in the village of Morqut sell keys for 50 Dragon Isles Supplies each
Step-by-Step Guide to Obtaining
To create the Mossy Mammoth, you need to collect six reagents from the chests of the Zskera Vaults and combine them sequentially. The contents of the chests are random and refresh weekly, so the process may take several weeks.
Reagents
All six reagents are found in random chests inside the rooms of the Zskera Vaults:
| Reagent | ID | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 204360 | A petrified magical sphere containing dormant life energy | |
| 204369 | Shreds of black dragon scales with residual earth magic | |
| 204371 | Concentrated arcane energy of the blue dragonflight | |
| 204375 | Ever-burning coals with the fire of the red dragonflight | |
| 204372 | Dust with the time magic of the bronze dragonflight | |
| 204374 | An artifact of the green dragonflight carrying the energy of awakening |
Combination Chain
Each step is performed automatically: with the required items in your bag, right-click the first reagent, then select the second.
Step 1. Combine the Strange Petrified Orb + Scrap of Black Dragonscales → obtain a
Particularly Ordinary Egg. The earth magic of the black dragons removes the petrification from the orb, exposing the egg inside.
Step 2. Combine the Particularly Ordinary Egg + Drop of Blue Dragon Magic → obtain a
Magically Altered Egg. The arcane energy of the blue dragons fills the egg with magic.
Step 3. Combine the Magically Altered Egg + Everburning Ruby Coals → obtain an
Egg of Unknown Contents. The fire of the red dragons warms the egg and starts the growth process.
Step 4. Combine the Egg of Unknown Contents + Speck of Bronze Dust → obtain a
Sleeping Ancient Mammoth. The time magic of the bronze dragons accelerates the maturing of the creature inside the egg.
Step 5. Combine the Sleeping Ancient Mammoth + Emerald Dragon Brooch → obtain the
Mossy Mammoth. The awakening energy of the green dragons brings the mammoth out of its eternal sleep.
Tips
Open all the rooms in a row — reagents appear in random chests, so the more rooms you open in a week, the higher the chance of finding the items you need. Don't spend keys selectively
Visit every week — the vault's contents refresh on Tuesdays (EU servers) or Wednesdays (RU servers). A missed week means lost reagents
Farm keys through rare mobs — fly along the route of rare opponents on the Forbidden Reach before each visit to the vault. In 15–20 minutes you can collect 5–10 keys
Buy keys for Dragon Isles Supplies — since patch 10.1.5, keys are sold by faction envoys in the village of Morqut for 50 Supplies. If you have accumulated supplies, this is the fastest way to get additional keys
Don't throw away intermediate items — eggs and other intermediate combination results are kept in your bag until the next step. If you didn't find all the reagents in one week, the intermediate item will be saved
Reagents appear in later rooms — the Speck of Bronze Dust and Emerald Dragon Brooch are most often found in the vault's distant rooms. Accessing them may require several weeks of opening rooms
Combine with other rewards — in addition to the mammoth reagents, the Zskera Vaults contain transmog sets, toys, and other mounts. Every visit brings additional rewards
