Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
Reins of the Green Shado-Pan Riding Tiger is a ground mount that teaches you to summon a riding tiger clad in the green armor of the Shado-Pan order. The item was added in the Mists of Pandaria expansion and remains available in the current version of the game, The War Within (patch 11.1, 2026).
Tigers are a signature symbol of the Shado-Pan order, defenders of Pandaria against ancient evil. The mount's model mirrors the war tigers the monks themselves ride into battle: heavy armor, combat harness and the order's distinctive emblems. The green coloring stands out among the three available variants (red, blue, green) and pairs especially well with forest and nature themes.
The mount's speed scales with your current riding skill: +60% at apprentice level and +100% at journeyman. At character level 80 in The War Within you already have all the necessary skills.
To buy the mount you need to meet the following conditions:
The vendor is located in Pandaria, which you can reach via a portal from your capital or through the travel table on the Dragon Isles/Khaz Algar. Head to the Townlong Steppes, and from there to the Shado-Pan Garrison in the southwestern part of the zone.

From any capital of the current expansion, find a portal to Pandaria (in Orgrimmar — in the Valley of Wisdom; in Stormwind — in the Mage Quarter). Teleport to the Vale of Eternal Blossoms or the Jade Forest. From there head northeast — to the Townlong Steppes.
To start earning reputation with the Shado-Pan, you first need to reach Honored with the Golden Lotus faction in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. After that the daily quest chains activate at the Shado-Pan Garrison.
There are three quest givers at the Shado-Pan Garrison: Lin Six Ponds, Master Snowdrift and Ban Bearheart. Only one of them is active each day — he offers a chain of five quests in one of three zones: Sha'tong, Sra'vess or the Gao-Ran Battlefront. Completing all five quests grants about 1,250 reputation per day.
Additionally, at the garrison you can take a "companion" — one of nine Shado-Pan guards who assist in combat and provide bonus dialogue.
As soon as you reach Revered with the Shado-Pan, buy the
Grand Commendation of the Shado-Pan from Rushi the Fox. The item grants +100% to the faction's earned reputation on all characters on the account — this dramatically speeds up reaching Exalted.
With the commendation active you will need several more days of daily quests (usually 5–8 days) to reach Exalted. Reputation is additionally granted by:
Fly to the Shado-Pan Garrison (the flight point activates automatically as you progress through the quests) and find Rushi the Fox inside the fortress, by the central building. For 1,500 gold purchase the
Reins of the Green Shado-Pan Riding Tiger. Use the item — the mount is added to your collection permanently across the entire account.
Rushi the Fox also sells the
Reins of the Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent for 3,000 gold — if you haven't unlocked flight in Pandaria yet, this is a great bonus to your collection alongside the tigers.
The Shado-Pan quests are among the most atmospheric in Pandaria: here you will see the monks' training, the defense against the Sha of Hatred and the final assault on the mogu lair. Don't skip the dialogue.
If you have already completed the "The Great Wall" achievement (uncovering all Sha points), the Shado-Pan daily quests will go especially fast: all the mobs are already studied and the route is familiar.
In The War Within the old Pandaria content scales well: any level 80 character wipes out the five daily targets in a few minutes — the whole run takes 20–30 minutes.
After reaching Exalted, don't forget to grab the
Shado-Pan Tabard from Rushi the Fox — a handsome wardrobe piece, especially for monks.
All three Shado-Pan tigers count toward the Pandaria mount meta-achievements — collecting all of the expansion's mounts earns you additional rewards.
