Trained Snarler
Overview

Trained Snarler is a ground mount in the form of a brown wolf, added in patch 6.0.3. Its movement speed depends on your riding skill: +60% with Apprentice and up to +100% at higher tiers. The mount is account-bound: once learned, it becomes available to all eligible characters, even if you tear down the Stables. The source is always the same — the chain of training quests at the Stables in your Draenor garrison, whose final quest is Wolf Riding: Garn.
Why Get It
The Snarler is one of the six "trainable" Stables mounts required for the "Stable Master" achievement. The achievement itself unlocks the blueprint for the level 3 Stables and two armored versions of the mounts (for completing the optional conditions involving the Black Claw and the Garn Tooth Necklace). On top of that, the wolf is one of the most stylish models in the Draenor collection: a great alternative to the standard Horde wolves and a rare ground mount for Alliance characters.
Requirements
To start the chain you will need: a character of level 10 or higher (but realistically — level 80 for a comfortable run through Draenor in 2026); a built garrison in Draenor (Frostwall in Shadowmoon Valley for the Horde, Lunarfall in Shadowmoon Valley for the Alliance); a level 1 or higher Stables as a large garrison building; the Apprentice Riding skill; about 12 in-game days to fully complete all of the Stables mounts (for the Snarler alone — roughly 7 days after the capture).
Source
The mount is granted as a reward for the final quest of the training chain. Below are the key parameters of the source.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Source type | Quest reward |
| Final quest | Wolf Riding: Garn |
| Quest giver | Sage Paluna (garrison Stables) |
| Quest objective | Defeat the Clawpaw while mounted on a Snarler-in-Training |
| Final location | Nagrand, coordinates ~63, 80 |
| Building | Garrison Stables, level 1+ |
| Factions | Alliance and Horde |
| Cost | Free (only garrison resources for construction) |
| Extra reward | 50 garrison resources |
| Binding | Account-bound |
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1. Open your garrison in Draenor and finish building the level 2 Town Hall so that the blueprint for the level 1 Stables becomes available.
Step 2. Build the Stables on a large building plot. The blueprint is free, and construction takes the standard amount of time.
Step 3. Each day a new quest to capture a wild animal with a lasso appears at the Stables. The wolf unlocks on the 6th day after the building is constructed, so don't skip your daily visits.
Step 4. Take the wolf-capture quest from Sage Paluna, head to the indicated location in Draenor, use the lasso, and follow the fleeing animal until it is fully exhausted.
Step 5. After the capture you will be given a daily training quest: kill a specific Draenor mob while mounted on the Snarler-in-Training. The wolf chain consists of 7 training quests and skips some of the shared mobs (Rakkiri, Tusker, Riplash, Gezzran, and Bog Lord).
Step 6. The final quest is "Wolf Riding: Garn". Fly to Nagrand to the point ~63, 80 and kill the elite Clawpaw without dismounting. Note: if you don't have water walking, go around the lake near Telaar along the mountain path.
Step 7. Receive the Trained Snarler from Sage Paluna. The mount is automatically added to the collection of all characters on the account.
Optimizing the Run
- Run all six training lines in parallel: each day a new capture quest appears at the Stables, and they are all independent. This saves time and gives immediate progress toward "Stable Master".
- Don't summon a hunter's pet, a mage's water elemental, or a warlock's demon during the fight with the Clawpaw — the summon dismounts you and cancels your progress.
- To avoid being thrown off by the Clawpaw's fear, kite it around the nearest tree: this interrupts the fear animation and you stay mounted.
- If you want the armored version of the wolf, equip the Garn Tooth Necklace, which drops from the Clawpaw, during the final fight. This grants an additional quest for the same target.
Tips and Common Mistakes
Don't tear down the Stables before finishing all six chains: after demolition your progress is saved, but you won't be able to resume capturing new mounts until the building is rebuilt. Make sure you have the Trained Snarler active and not a regular mount — the final quest only counts the kill on the training model. At level 90 Draenor mobs die in one or two hits, but dismounting still fails the task. Use instant abilities without a cast time and watch out for effects that remove your mount. If you forget to visit the Stables for a few days, the capture quests don't disappear — they simply wait for you at Sage Paluna. However, the training of a specific mount advances only once per day, and that time cannot be shortened.
