Vicious War Kodo
Overview

Vicious War Kodo is a ground-based, two-seat rideable kodo clad in heavy armor with distinctive spikes and a mace on its tail. The mount reflects the tauren culture and war craft and is granted exclusively to Horde players.
The mount remains part of the ongoing lineup of PvP rewards and is purchased with the "Vicious Saddle" currency from a vendor in Orgrimmar. It is one of the ways to spend "extra" saddles earned from seasonal progress beyond the main reward.
Why get this mount
- Collection value: the "Vicious War Kodo" rounds out the set of "Vicious" mounts themed around the tauren race and is an expected part of any Horde PvP collection.
- Aesthetics: the armored kodo looks massive and fits thematically into the Horde's military gear style, pairing well with heavy armor.
- Capacity: this is a two-seat mount, which is handy in group content and for traveling together with allies.
- Limited availability: the mount is obtained only by players who regularly take part in rated PvP, so it highlights the owner's relevant experience.
- Warband-bound: the item is bound to the warband, so the mount unlocks across all Horde characters on the account.
Requirements
- Faction: Horde only. The mount is unavailable to Alliance characters (the Alliance mirror mount is the "Vicious War Steed").
- Character level: minimum 10 to use, with basic riding skill. In the context of current content, level 80 and seasonal activity are assumed.
- Participation in the season's rated PvP: rated 2v2, 3v3, Solo Shuffle, battlegrounds, and Battle Blitz.
- Minimum rating for gaining seasonal progress: 1000+ in the chosen mode.
- Currency: 1 "Vicious Saddle", earned by refilling the seasonal PvP progress bar repeatedly.
Step-by-step guide
Prepare a level 80 Horde character with current seasonal gear. It is recommended to first assemble a set of low-rank "Vicious" items via uncalibrated items and PvP activities to rack up wins faster.
Decide on a mode. For your first seasonal progress, the easiest options are Solo Shuffle or Blitz: no group-finding is needed, and a 1000+ rating is achievable with moderate play.
Reach a rating of 1000 in your chosen mode. Wins below this threshold do not count toward the seasonal bar.
Fill the first seasonal progress bar. The first reward for filling it is the seasonal mount "Vicious War Electric Eel" (or its season equivalent), not the "Vicious Saddle". The saddle begins to be granted on subsequent refills of the bar.
Keep racking up wins to refill the bar again. Each subsequent fill grants a "Vicious Saddle" item.
Head to Orgrimmar, to the Valley of Spirits, to the vendor Deathguard Netharian.
In the vendor window, select the "Vicious War Kodo" and trade it for 1 "Vicious Saddle".
Use the obtained item to learn the mount. It automatically unlocks across the entire warband.
Optimizing the process
- Choose the most comfortable mode. Solo Shuffle and Blitz let you play without a fixed team and quickly accumulate wins, which is convenient for farming repeated bar refills.
- Keep your rating above 1000. If you drop below the threshold, wins stop giving seasonal progress, so it makes sense to take breaks during losing streaks.
- Use uncalibrated PvP items (Unranked) at the start of the season to raise your gear level faster and compete with opponents.
- Plan within a single season. The bar progress and number of saddles earned reset at the seasonal-reward level, but the "Vicious Saddles" themselves stay in your inventory and can be used in future seasons too.
- Keep a reserve of saddles. If you already have the "Vicious War Kodo", stockpile saddles for other "Vicious" mounts that are rotating out of the current expansion.
- Keep in mind that mounts from the current expansion's seasons are temporarily unavailable at the vendor while the expansion is current. The "Vicious War Kodo" belongs to previous expansions, so it is available in the season.
Tips and FAQ
- Can an Alliance player get the mount? No. This is a Horde faction mount. The Alliance gets the "Vicious War Steed" from the corresponding vendor in Stormwind.
- Do I have to play 3v3? No. Any rated mode of TWW Season 2 works: 2v2, 3v3, Solo Shuffle, RBG, Blitz — as long as you have a 1000+ rating.
- Do unrated arenas count? No, only rated matches contribute to seasonal progress.
- What should I do if I have no "Vicious Saddle" but the first bar is already filled? Keep playing rated matches: repeated refills of the bar will grant the saddle.
- Does the mount unlock on Alliance characters in the same warband? No, only a Horde character can use it, even though the item itself is warband-bound.
- Can I buy the mount for gold or on the auction house? No. The only way is through the "Vicious Saddle" currency from the PvP rewards vendor.
