Malavita
Malavita first discovered World of Warcraft in Draenor, but truly got into the game with the Shadowlands expansion. Has a soft spot for Demon Hunters and Mages. Considers her main goal to be collecting as many mounts as possible.

Brilliant Direbeak is a red-and-orange ground falcosaur mount from the Legion expansion. The shimmering feathers of these deceptively ferocious and well-coordinated creatures are used to confuse their prey. The mount is awarded for the final quest "Direbeak Reunion." Its movement speed is standard for a ground mount, and it cannot be used while flying. It is added to your mount collection the moment you use the item from your bags.
First, it is a rare collectible mount: falcosaurs are still a hallmark of Legion, and not every player in 2026 has found the time to complete this long chain.
Second, the Brilliant Direbeak counts toward the "Falcosaur Fair" achievement and other meta-collection achievements tied to Legion's mounts.
Third, alongside the mount you also earn the Direbeak Hatchling battle pet, which makes the chain doubly rewarding.
Finally, the process itself is a nostalgic tour of the Broken Isles: you will visit Stormheim, Suramar, and even the Tomb of Sargeras raid for Krosus.
For a smooth run, make sure all of the conditions below are met. Most of the chain assumes that the Broken Isles are already unlocked and that you have the basics of pet collecting available.
Step 1. Obtain the Direbeak Hatchling. Wait for the "Direbeak Swarm!" world quest in Stormheim (at Gull Rock), defeat the Direbeak Matriarch, and complete the quest. Afterward, an orphaned hatchling NPC will appear at the site. Buy a few Pungent Vrykul Gamalost from the quartermaster and feed one to the hatchling — you will receive the battle pet.
Step 2. "Raising the Direbeak." Level the pet to 25. Use stone and cloth experience charms along with Pet Battle world quests in the Broken Isles — that is the fastest way.
Step 3. "Scent of a Dwarf" (Alliance) / "Scent of a Tauren" (Horde). Take the pet to Ironforge or Thunder Bluff respectively and finish the chain at the proper spot.
Step 4. "Hunting Lesson: Rose Taipan." Defeat wild Rose Taipans near Talon Rest in Stormheim while keeping the hatchling on your team.
Step 5. "Allies in Stormheim." Complete 5 world quests in Stormheim with the Direbeak Hatchling summoned.
Step 6. "Direbeak Teamwork." Win 3 pet battles in the Broken Isles. The hatchling does not have to be on your team, but it is wise to keep it out so you do not confuse your progress.
Step 7. "Friendship Lesson: Azsuna." Take the pet to Azsuna and complete the scenario with the NPC there.
Step 8. "Strength Lesson: Suramar." Complete pet battles and the NPC interaction in Suramar.
Step 9. "Teamwork Lesson: Krosus." Enter The Nighthold (via Raid Finder), reach Krosus, and kill him with the hatchling summoned. To do this, open the dialogue with the NPC near the Violet Citadel in Dalaran and pick the right wing.
Step 10. "Direbeak Team Brawl." Complete 3 pet battle world quests with the hatchling and 2 humanoid pets on your team.
Step 11. "Loyalty Lesson." Complete a series of pet battles in Stormheim with the hatchling on your team.
Step 12. "Resilience Lesson." Likewise — pet battle world quests in other Broken Isles zones.
Step 13. "Fury Lesson: Krosus." Enter the LFR wing of the Tomb of Sargeras raid where Krosus is found and kill him with the hatchling summoned. This is the longest step time-wise because of the LFR queue.
Step 14. "The Great Hunt." A final hunting drill: take part in fights against field enemies in Stormheim until you have racked up the required count.
Step 15. "Direbeak Reunion." Take the hatchling and return to Gull Rock in Stormheim — the spot where you first defeated the Matriarch. Interact with the lying body, heal the Matriarch, and receive the "Brilliant Direbeak" item as your reward.
The chain is tied to the daily reset: each subsequent quest appears only after the previous one is finished and a new game day begins. So the main optimization is to never miss a reset. Useful tricks:
