Get Mourning Malice

Mourning Malice is a two-handed sword added to World of Warcraft in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a Heroic reward from the expansion's final raid, and any class that wields two-handed swords can carry the blade: Warriors, Death Knights, and Paladins.

The sword's model is built around the cold undead aesthetic of the Scourge: a broad gray-steel blade with a jagged edge and bone accents on the guard, in the spirit of Icecrown Citadel weaponry. The silhouette is massive and predatory, with no bright glow — the emphasis is on "dead metal" and a grim theme, which is exactly what makes the blade a sought-after transmog for dark looks.

Its stats (strength, stamina, ratings) have long had no practical value: the item is taken purely for its appearance.

The sword drops in the Icecrown Citadel raid — the final raid of Wrath of the Lich King.

• This is the Heroic version of the item, meaning it drops when clearing the raid on Heroic difficulty.
• The drop is not guaranteed: the sword shares a loot table with the boss's other items, so several runs may be needed.

For a modern player the raid has long been outdated content: Icecrown Citadel can be soloed by almost any level 90 class. The main challenge is not the fight itself but the path to the final boss: you have to clear the raid up to the Lich King, since there is no direct skip to him. The minimum entry level is a formality these days.

The raid entrance is in Icecrown (Northrend), in the upper part of Icecrown Citadel. The most convenient way to get there is via the teleport stone at the entrance or the dungeons of the corresponding zone.
