Scepter of Manifested Miasma — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Scepter of Manifested Miasma is an epic one-handed mace added to World of Warcraft with The War Within expansion. The weapon is styled in the palette so characteristic of the Nerub-ar Palace raid: a dark haft crowned with a clot of pulsing Old God blood, threaded with thin filaments of crimson energy. It is a recognizable "nerubian" silhouette leaning into the theme of corruption and the Unspoken.
Statwise the mace is built for casters with Intellect, so the look fits the styling of paladins, priests, shamans, monks, druids, and augmentation evokers well. Today the item is valued first and foremost as transmog: the raid belongs to the previous expansion and its gear is no longer relevant in terms of power, yet the appearance stays fresh and sought after.
Source
The mace drops from the boss The Bloodbound Horror — the second opponent of the Nerub-ar Palace raid in The War Within expansion.
- The boss is located in the lower halls of the palace, where it rises from pools of Old God blood.
- The mace's drop chance is around 9.6%.
- The item is available on Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties.
- The mace binds when picked up, so you cannot transfer it to another character — the appearance unlocks for whoever receives it.
- The limit is standard for raid loot: one loot attempt from the boss per week per character.
Who It Suits Visually
- Ideal for looks in a crimson-and-black palette leaning into the theme of blood and Old God corruption.
- Harmonizes with raid sets from Nerub-ar Palace, kept in dark nerubian tones.
- Looks great in the hands of dark-themed casters — Shadow priests, shamans, and augmentation evokers.
- Contrasts with light cloth armor — a debatable but expressive combination where the weapon becomes the main accent of the look.
Tips
The raid belongs to the previous expansion, so it is most convenient to go for the look on Raid Finder or Normal difficulty — the boss goes down fast there.
If a more vibrant color variant matters to you, farm the mace on Heroic or Mythic difficulty.
You can enter the raid in a group or assemble a party through the finder system — for an outdated raid the composition is not critical.
Remember the weekly loot limit: a single character can receive loot from the boss only once per week.
To speed up farming the appearance, run the boss in parallel on several characters of suitable classes.
The appearance is added to your appearance collection right after you receive the item — you do not have to wear it to unlock it.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
