Overview

Scryer's Blade of Focus

Game iconScryer's Blade of Focus is a one-handed dagger of epic quality added in patch 2.4.0 "Fury of the Sunwell" of The Burning Crusade expansion. The model echoes the visual language of Isle of Quel'Danas items: a short blade with a faceted, pale-violet edge and a twisted, elven-style hilt that resonates with the aesthetic of the The Scryers — the blood elf faction in Shattrath City.

The item is bound on pickup and counts as unique-equipped. For the transmog collection, the appearance unlocks in one of two ways — by purchasing it from a vendor tied to reputation with the Scryers, or by buying it from a timewalking vendor for Timewarped Badges.

Source

The dagger is sold by two identical Shattered Sun Offensive vendors that open up as the daily campaign phases progress on the Isle of Quel'Danas:

  • Smith Hauthaa — a weaponsmith and armorer of the Shattered Sun Offensive on the Isle of Quel'Danas. Coordinates /way 4080 47 32 next to the Sun's Reach Armory.
  • Anwehu — a weaponsmith and armorer on the Terrace of Light in Shattrath, who mirrors Smith Hauthaa's stock once the corresponding campaign phase is unlocked.

The price is 60 gold 30 silver in standard form. Players who are Exalted with the The Scryers faction get the usual blood elf trade discount. Scryers reputation itself is earned through quest chains and daily tasks in Outland; choosing this faction rules out the alternative — the Aldor — so the dagger is considered a "signature" item of the blood elf faction.

An additional path is timewalking during the seasonal "The Burning Crusade" event. The vendor Cupri on the second tier of the Terrace of Light in Shattrath sells a version of the Game iconScryer's Blade of Focus with the same model and name for 35 Timewarped Badges. This version unlocks exactly the same appearance in the collection, so if the event is active right now, it is easier to grab it rather than grind reputation from scratch.

After buying either version, the model unlocks account-wide in the collection for suitable classes. There is no need to duplicate the purchase.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Mage and warlock looks in the Quel'Thalas and Sunwell style — the dagger resonates with the models of the Sun's Reach Armory.
  • Sets with the purple and lilac palette of the blood elves — for example, looks built around The Burning Crusade-era tiers and items of the Scryers faction.
  • Magical builds with an "arcane focus" motif: the thin blade reads as a ritual casting knife rather than a melee weapon.
  • Contrast with heavy cloth robes in dark shades — the blade works as a light accent in hand thanks to its cool, bluish-violet glow.
  • Paired in the off-hand with a wand or spellbook in a blood elf wardrobe — the model does not steal attention and does not clash with most Outland-era gear.

Tips

1

The fastest path time-wise is to grab the original from Smith Hauthaa on the Isle of Quel'Danas: the weaponsmith opens up early in the Shattered Sun Offensive campaign and does not require grinding reputation up to Exalted with the Scryers.

2

If your Scryers reputation is already Exalted, the dagger comes as a side purchase alongside the faction's other rewards — there is no point in arranging a separate farm.

3

During the seasonal "Timewalking: The Burning Crusade" event, it is easier to grab the version from Cupri for 35 Timewarped Badges than to raise reputation from scratch — the model and name in the collection are identical.

4

The dagger is sold for plain gold — there is no point in saving up currency and buying the item on an alt; it binds on pickup, so the character must visit the vendor themselves.

5

Before buying, check that your character's specialization uses intellect: the model only unlocks for classes that can hold a dagger in the main hand for magic.

6

Coordinates /way 4080 47 32 for Smith Hauthaa on the Isle of Quel'Danas — a spot by the anvil behind the Sun's Reach Armory.
