TBC Classic Elemental Shaman Guide (Phase 3)

The Elemental Shaman is a mail-wearing ranged caster and the best support caster in the game. It deals damage through Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning, but it is brought into a caster group above all for Totem of Wrath, which grants +3% spell hit and crit, Wrath of Air Totem for spell power, as well as Bloodlust and Heroism.

• Set down your totems — the mix depends on the group, but Totem of Wrath is placed almost always
• Chain Lightning — if mana is not an issue, together with Master of the Elements when it is available
• Lightning Bolt — your main filler
• Flame Shock — when you have to move
• Water Shield — keep it up on yourself for mana restoration

Multi-Target Priority

• Fire Nova Totem — on cooldown, if you can get right up to the targets
• Chain Lightning — from 3 targets it fully replaces Lightning Bolt; on two targets, play the normal priority
• Magma Totem — while Fire Nova Totem is on cooldown
• Lightning Bolt
• Flame Shock — when you have to move

• Master of the Elements — your main damage cooldown, pair it with Chain Lightning
• Bloodlust and Heroism — a huge haste boost for the entire group for 40 seconds
• Totemic Recall — removes your totems and returns 25% of their cost; handy both to avoid pulling a patrol and to reclaim a bit of mana before totems expire
• Earth Elemental Totem — the elemental taunts and holds enemies, an emergency tank for the group
• Fire Elemental Totem — notable single-target and area damage
• Tremor Totem, Poison Cleansing Totem and Disease Cleansing Totem — place them a little less than 5 seconds before the boss applies the effect: the totems cleanse once every 5 seconds

TBC introduced a downranking penalty, so your main attack spells such as Lightning Bolt must never be downranked under any circumstances. Utility spells, however — Earth Shock and Frost Shock — should be downranked: you cast them not for damage.

Draenei

• Inspiring Presence increases the spell hit chance of the entire group by 1%.
• Gift of the Naaru heals the target over 15 seconds. 3-minute cooldown.
• Shadow Resistance increases shadow resistance by 10.
• Gemcutting increases Jewelcrafting skill by 5.

Troll

• Berserking increases your attack and casting speed by 10–30% depending on how injured you are. 3-minute cooldown.
• Beast Slaying increases damage against beasts by 5%.
• Bow Specialization increases critical strike chance by 1% while wielding a bow.
• Throwing Specialization increases critical strike chance by 1% while wielding a thrown weapon.
• Regeneration increases health regeneration by 10% and allows you to regenerate 10% of it even during combat.

Orc

• Blood Fury increases attack power by 282 for 15 seconds, but healing received is reduced by 50% during that time. 2-minute cooldown.
• Hardiness increases the chance to resist stun effects by 15%.
• Command increases pet damage by 5%.
• Axe Specialization increases expertise rating by 5 while wielding an axe.

Tauren

• War Stomp stuns up to 5 enemies within 8 yards for 2 seconds. 0.5-second cast, 2-minute cooldown.
• Endurance increases your health pool by 5%.
• Nature Resistance increases nature resistance by 10.
• Cultivation increases Herbalism skill by 15.

Leatherworking

Provides the Windhawk Armor set, which is also great for Restoration Shamans, and Drums of Battle — a consumable available only to Leatherworkers.

Enchanting

Exclusive ring enchants boost your damage throughout all of TBC.

Engineering

Explosives such as Super Sapper Charge significantly increase your area damage.

Tailoring

Not recommended: it only provides the Spellstrike Infusion set bonus, which does not compare to the benefits from the other professions. If you take it anyway — make money on periodic cloth transmutes.

Alchemy

A good source of gold thanks to transmutes and the new specializations in elixirs, potions and transmutation. Suits a character for whom maximum output is not a priority.
