Swift White Mechanostrider

Swift White Mechanostrider is an epic ground mount from the gnome racial line. Its model is a snow-white two-legged mechanical walker.

The mount is sold for 10 gold by Milli Featherwhistle in Dun Morogh. Gnome characters can buy it right after learning Apprentice Riding, while all other Alliance races need to reach the rank of "Exalted" with the Gnomeregan faction.

• Epic ground movement speed — the mount grants +100% running speed if you have the matching riding skill. It is one of the fastest ground options in the game
• Rare racial model — the white mechanostrider coloring belongs exclusively to the gnome racial line. No other source in the game grants it
• "Mechanostriders" collection — together with the Swift Green Mechanostrider and the Swift Yellow Mechanostrider, it forms a set of three epic steeds available from the very same vendor
• Account-wide mount — once purchased, it becomes available to every Alliance character on your account, including future ones
• Strong visual transmog — the white paint pairs well with paladin, priest, and mage gear and suits an engineer-technician roleplay look

Milli Featherwhistle stands in the open in the small settlement of Steelgrill's Depot, north of the village of Kharanos in Dun Morogh. This is the gnome and dwarf starting zone, so you can reach it in several ways.

How to Get There

1. Open the adventurers' table in any capital and take the portal to Ironforge. If there is no portal, use a Hearthstone bound to Ironforge or fly there on a flying mount from Dalaran, Stormwind, or Stormwind Harbor
2. In Ironforge, find the exit to the Gates of Ironforge — the main western passage out of the city. The Dun Morogh zone is labeled above them on the map
3. Leave the city and turn southwest along the road. The road runs past the village of Kharanos — pass through it and keep heading west
4. After a short while, a fenced area with mechanostriders and buildings will appear on the left side of the road. This is Steelgrill's Depot
5. Milli Featherwhistle stands next to a cluster of mechanostriders near the repair hangar. Her marker appears on the map as soon as you click the vendor icon

Gnome characters start in this very area and reach the vendor within a couple of minutes during the introductory tutorial. If you play a gnome, the easiest option is to buy the mechanostrider at a low level — it will give you the speed you need before you head out into the wider world.

Milli Featherwhistle has two rules under which she agrees to sell the epic mechanostriders.

Gnomes only need to run up to the vendor and pay 10 gold. Dwarves, humans, night elves, draenei, worgen, and the other Alliance races must first earn Honored reputation with the gnomes. The mount is unavailable to the Horde under any circumstances — it is an Alliance racial mount.

Once you obtain the Swift White Mechanostrider, it unlocks across your entire account collection, and any of your Alliance characters can summon it, even if they never earned the reputation themselves.

If you are not playing a gnome, prepare for the reputation farm in advance. In modern WoW this is faster and easier than in original Classic.

Path 1: Tabard and Old Dungeons

The fastest method for max-level characters.

1. Fly to Ironforge and head into the Great Forge — the central industrial hall of the city
2. Find the NPC Senior Mechanic Trini. She sells the Gnomeregan Tabard for 8 silver
3. Put on the tabard
4. Go to any Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King dungeon on heroic mode through the Dungeon Finder. Botanica or The Mechanar, for example, will do
5. By killing mobs inside the instance with the tabard equipped, you gain Gnomeregan reputation for each enemy. One or two dungeon clears per hour is usually enough to close a large chunk of reputation

Path 2: Quests in Dun Morogh

If you would rather not run dungeons, part of the reputation can be earned through straightforward quests:

• Dun Morogh and Ironforge quests — simple tasks for low-level characters, each granting 75–250 reputation with Gnomeregan
• The Operation: Gnomeregan questline — a large story arc about the gnomes returning to their home city, granting a noticeable reputation boost
• Daily and seasonal Alliance tasks that sometimes refresh in story zones — always check the "Reputation" tab in the interface

1. Make sure you have Honored with Gnomeregan if your character is not a gnome. You can check this in the reputation interface (the R key by default)
2. Save up 10 gold. At max level this is pocket change, but at low levels you can sell a few unneeded items at the auction house
3. Learn any available riding skill — the most basic Apprentice Riding will do, taught by any instructor for a couple of silver as early as level 10
4. Teleport or fly to Dun Morogh and head to Steelgrill's Depot at the coordinates /way #27 56.2 46.2
5. Find Milli Featherwhistle next to the mechanostriders
6. Right-click her — the vendor window will open
7. In the goods list, find the Swift White Mechanostrider and click "Buy"
8. The mount is automatically added to your collection and becomes available on all your Alliance characters
