Swift White Ram
Overview

The
Swift White Ram is an epic ground mount of the Ironforge dwarves, added all the way back in the original World of Warcraft (patch 1.4). It is a massive mountain ram with thick snow-white fur and huge twisted horns, bred at Amberstill Ranch in the eastern part of Dun Morogh. It was exactly this kind of steed that veteran dwarves rode in Classic WoW — the white "swift" model is considered one of the most recognizable among Alliance racial mounts.
Why you want this mount
- Collection and achievements — the ram counts toward collection achievements. For mount hunters, a single visit to Veron Amberstill can close out six entries at once — three regular rams and three "swift" ones
- Recognizable white model — the white coloring of the ram looks more striking than the gray or brown one, especially next to dark armor. Many collectors consider this very variant the most atmospheric among Classic Ironforge steeds
- A dwarven symbol — the mountain ram is the iconic racial mount of the dwarves. It's handy for roleplaying a dwarf character or for emphasizing any Alliance character's connection to the people of Ironforge
- Cheap for dwarves — only 10 gold, available right after learning riding. It's one of the fastest epic mounts in the game for a dwarf character
- Account-wide — the mount unlocks on every character of your account. Even if you buy it on a dwarf warrior, the
Swift White Ram will appear in the collection of any other Alliance character of yours
How to reach Veron Amberstill
The vendor is located at Amberstill Ranch — a small ranch east of Ironforge, in the Dun Morogh zone. The fastest route is to teleport to Ironforge and fly there on a flying mount, or walk east on foot.
- Open a portal to Ironforge from any major Alliance city. In Stormwind the portals to capitals are in Stormwind Keep; in Boralus they are on the square next to the harbor zone
- Leave Ironforge through the eastern gate and travel along the road toward Dun Morogh
- Amberstill Ranch is located in the eastern part of Dun Morogh. Vendor coordinates:
- At the ranch you'll see a ram pen and Veron himself next to an old wagon. Open his dialogue — if you meet the required conditions, all the epic rams will appear in the vendor window, including the
Swift White Ram
If your character is a dwarf, the goods list will be shown right away. If you play another Alliance race and don't have Exalted with Ironforge, Veron will plainly tell you that he won't entrust the reins to an unproven ally and won't trade with you.
How to get Exalted with Ironforge
If you play a human, night elf, draenei, worgen, pandaren, void elf, lightforged draenei or any other Alliance race besides a dwarf, you'll need to raise your reputation with Ironforge to Exalted. Below are the most efficient methods in the current patch.
Diplomat bonus for humans
- The human racial trait Diplomacy grants +10% to reputation gained with all factions. If you have a human character, use that one — it will speed up the farm
Tabard of Ironforge
The most reliable way to raise reputation is to wear the
Ironforge Tabard. It is bought from Captain Stonehelm in Ironforge for a few silver coins.
- While the tabard is worn, any kill of enemies in classic dungeons and heroic dungeons grants reputation with Ironforge
- The fastest option is solo runs through old Cataclysm and earlier-expansion dungeons. Starting at level 90, all these dungeons can be cleared solo in a few minutes
Dun Morogh and Ironforge story quests
- Complete the starting dwarf quest chains in Dun Morogh, Loch Modan and Wetlands. Many of them grant 250–500 reputation each and together raise you to Friendly or Honored without extra effort
- Quests from older expansions tied to Ironforge also count toward the total
Optimal route for farming reputation
- Create or switch to a level 90 character
- Buy the
Ironforge Tabard in Ironforge and put it on - Solo-clear classic dungeons (Blackrock Depths, Dire Maul, Stratholme) in 5–10 minutes per run
- In parallel, finish off quests in the dwarven zones — they cover the early reputation levels for free
- After reaching Exalted, head to Veron Amberstill and buy the mount
In players' experience, the full farm from Neutral to Exalted takes 8–15 hours of pure time depending on the chosen route and bonuses. With human Diplomacy and scrolls, this time is cut by about a third.
Tips
1
Buy all three rams at once — if you've already reached Exalted, spend another 20 gold. They count separately toward the mount collection and lead to collector achievements
2
Don't forget the regular colorings — if you collect everything, Veron also sells basic rams for 1 gold each. They use the same model but count as separate mounts
3
Don't waste money — if you don't play Alliance, buying this ram is impossible. The mount is hard-bound to the faction, and account transfer doesn't work
4
Check your reputation progress in advance — sometimes characters who played a lot in old expansions already have Exalted with Ironforge and simply don't know it. Open the "Reputation" tab and find Ironforge
5
Optimal class for farming dungeons under the tabard — demon hunter and retribution paladin. The former offers the highest mobility and quickly gathers mobs into packs, the latter efficiently clears them with mass strikes
6
Discount on the mount's price — at high reputation levels with Ironforge the price drops. At Exalted the final cost falls from 10 to about 8 gold, which is nice but doesn't affect the overall calculation
