Swift Zulian Panther — How to Get the Mount
Swift Zulian Panther

Swift Zulian Panther is a rare epic ground mount added in the Cataclysm expansion (patch 4.1.0). It is a graceful black panther without a saddle or armor, the successor to the legendary
Swift Zulian Tiger, which was removed along with the original Zul'Gurub raid. The mount drops from High Priestess Kilnara in the Heroic Zul'Gurub dungeon. The drop chance is less than 1%.
The mount journal description reads: "The jungle trolls have long prized panther fangs, using them in rituals and for brewing mojo."
Why You Want This Mount
- Rarity — the drop chance is less than 1%, making the Swift Zulian Panther one of the most coveted dungeon mounts
- Appearance — an elegant black panther model without a saddle or harness. The minimalist design stands out among detail-heavy modern mounts
- Historical value — the spiritual successor to the removed Swift Zulian Tiger. For collectors, this is a way to touch the history of the original Zul'Gurub
- Farming accessibility — the dungeon takes 5–10 minutes at max level, allowing you to farm the mount efficiently every day
How to Obtain
There are three ways to get this mount:
- Farm in Zul'Gurub — the primary method. Kill High Priestess Kilnara daily on every available character. The dungeon is only available on Heroic difficulty
- Black Market — the mount periodically appears on the Black Market Auction House listed by Madam Goya with a starting bid of 20,000 gold. The final price can reach several million gold
- Reins of the Quantum Courser —
Reins of the Quantum Courser from the Dawn of the Infinite dungeon can transform into the Swift Zulian Panther if it is missing from your collection

How to Get to Zul'Gurub
Zul'Gurub is located in the northeastern part of Northern Stranglethorn, east of Lake Nazferiti (Eastern Kingdoms).
Entrance Coordinates
Route for Horde
- Open a portal to Orgrimmar from any hub
- Take the zeppelin or flight master to Grom'gol Base Camp in Northern Stranglethorn
- Fly east past Lake Nazferiti to the entrance of Zul'Gurub
Route for Alliance
- Open a portal to Stormwind from any hub
- Take the flight master to Fort Livingston or Explorers' League Digsite in Northern Stranglethorn
- Fly east to the entrance of Zul'Gurub
The dungeon entrance is a portal in the wall of ancient troll ruins. At max level there are no prerequisites for entry — you only need the riding skill.
Fighting High Priestess Kilnara at Level 80
At max level the fight is trivial and lasts a few seconds. Nevertheless, it is useful to know the dungeon specifics:
Route to the Boss
Kilnara is the second boss of the dungeon. To reach her, you need to pass through the first part of Zul'Gurub. After entering, follow the main path, bypassing groups of enemies. At level 80 you can simply run through all the enemies — they pose no threat. Kilnara is located in the panther den in the left part of the dungeon.
Fight Specifics
Before the fight, there are groups of panthers in Kilnara's room. During the battle, Kilnara transforms into a half-woman, half-panther. At max level you will destroy her in one or two attacks without seeing any mechanics.
After the Fight
Check the boss loot. If the mount did not drop, you can leave the dungeon and return the next day. You do not have to kill the remaining bosses.
Farming Optimization
One Attempt Per Day Per Character
Zul'Gurub is a Heroic dungeon with a daily reset. Each character can complete it once per day. The reset occurs every morning at the standard server time.
Using Alts
The mount is bind-on-pickup, so any of your characters can obtain it. The more level 80 characters you have, the more attempts per day you get.
Second Mount from Zul'Gurub
In the same dungeon, another boss — Bloodlord Mandokir — drops the
Armored Razzashi Raptor with a similar chance. In a single run you get a chance at both mounts, so it is recommended to kill both bosses.
Collector's Bounty Event
During the periodic in-game event "Collector's Bounty," the drop chance for mounts from legacy content increases significantly (up to 5%). Keep an eye on the event calendar — this is the best time to farm.
Time Calculation
With a drop chance of ~1% and 1 attempt per day on a single character:
| Attempts | Probability of Obtaining |
|---|---|
| 50 (50 days, 1 character) | ~39% |
| 100 (100 days, 1 character) | ~63% |
| 200 (200 days, 1 character) | ~87% |
| 100 (20 days, 5 characters) | ~63% |
Multiple characters significantly speed up the process. With five alts, the probability of getting the mount within a month is comparable to six months of farming on a single character.
Tips
1
Kill both bosses — do not miss the chance at the
Armored Razzashi Raptor from Mandokir. A full Zul'Gurub clear takes about 10 minutes and gives two chances at rare mounts
2
Watch for the Collector's Bounty event — during this event the drop chance increases to 5%, making farming five times more efficient. This is the best time to run it on all your alts
3
Check the Black Market — if you have the gold, buying may be faster than months of farming. The starting bid is 20,000 gold, but the final price depends on buyer activity on your server
4
Create alts — every additional level 80 character increases your chances. Even a character in basic gear can handle the dungeon with ease
5
Farm along a route — if you farm mounts from legacy content, include Zul'Gurub in your daily route along with other dungeons:
Reins of the Raven Lord from Sethekk Halls or
Reins of the White Polar Bear from the Oculus
6
Reins of the Quantum Courser — an additional chance to get the mount comes from farming
Reins of the Quantum Courser from the Dawn of the Infinite dungeon. This item transforms into a random dungeon mount missing from your collection
