TBC Classic Tailoring Profession Guide (Phase 3)

Tailoring is the core profession for everyone who wears cloth: mages, warlocks, and priests. A tailor sews robes, pants, and headpieces, but its main value in TBC lies in bags and gear sets with set bonuses that fill your slots until your first raid pieces.

Cloth drops from humanoids in nearly every dungeon, so the profession doesn't require a gathering partner: materials pile up on their own. At skill 350 you unlock a choice of specialization — master of Spellfire, Mooncloth, or Shadoweave tailoring, and it's this choice that grants access to the most expensive sets.

Ranks up to skill 300 are learned from trainers in the capitals; the master rank (300-375) is learned in Outland, in Hellfire Peninsula.

Masters in Outland (300-375)

The master rank unlocks at character level 68 and 300 profession skill.

The list is approximate. Toward the end of each range the recipes turn yellow and you won't gain a skill point from every craft, so buy materials with some to spare.

At skill 350 it's worth committing to a specialization: master of Spellfire, Mooncloth, or Shadoweave tailoring. Each branch gives its own exclusive sets that sell well throughout the entire expansion.

Steady income for a tailor comes from bags and class-specific sets. Bags are always bought by everyone, while sets are picked up before a raid by those who are missing pieces in the slots they need.
