Twilight Avenger is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 8.0.1 of the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It is an unarmored twilight flight dragon that visually resembles the Twilight Drake model, but with a unique dark-maroon coloration. The mount drops as a rare reward from Island Expeditions or from salvage crates purchased with Seafarer's Dubloons.
According to the item description: "Little is known about the fate of the twilight dragonflight, though they can still be found in considerable numbers in Grim Batol." The mount has item ID 163584 and spell ID 279466. According to Wowhead, it is owned by roughly 4% of players, making it one of the rarest Island Expedition mounts.
To farm the Twilight Avenger, you need the following:
There are two main ways to obtain the Twilight Avenger. Combining both is recommended for maximum efficiency.
Important: the crate selection at the vendors rotates weekly. If the Crestfall crate is unavailable in the current week, save up dubloons and wait for the rotation.
At max level (80 in The War Within), expeditions are cleared in just a few minutes. The optimal approach:
Actual timeframes vary. Some players get lucky with their first crates, while others spend hundreds of hours. Be prepared for a long farm.
Seafarer's Dubloons are bound to the character, not the account. However, once learned, the mount is available to all characters. Farm on the character that clears expeditions fastest — classes with high mobility and AoE damage are ideal: demon hunter, mage, monk.
Salvage crates are the priority — the direct drop from expeditions has a depressingly low chance (under 1%). The Crestfall salvage crate gives around 5%, which is five or more times more efficient. Always save dubloons for crates.
Victory is not required — the mount can drop whether you win or lose the expedition. Don't waste time on winning if your goal is clear speed.
Check the crate rotation — the vendor's selection changes weekly. Stop by every week and check whether the Crestfall Salvage Crate is available. If not, save dubloons until the next rotation.
Solo mode is available since patch 9.1.5 — don't look for a group. Talk to the NPC at the expedition table and choose "Private Tour" for instant entry with no queue.
Combine with other rewards — Island Expeditions also drop other rare mounts: Squawks, Surfin' Murloc, Qinsho's Eternal Hound, and Riftspar from Rifted Gorge. Farming one mount automatically gives you a chance at all the others.
Use the Rarity addon — the Rarity addon tracks your attempt count and calculates the statistical probability of getting the mount. It helps you stay motivated and understand your progress.
Don't forget the Jorundall Salvage Crate — according to some reports, the Twilight Avenger can also drop from this crate, although Crestfall remains the primary source.
