WoW Forever Feral Combat Druid — Guide (Beta Test)
About the Class
This guide is based on the World of Warcraft: Forever beta and covers gameplay up to level 20. The talents and combat tips are starting recommendations built on the spells and talents available in the beta. They will be refined as testing continues.
The Feral Combat Druid is a master of shapeshifting. It is the only specialization in Forever whose talents empower both
Bear Form and
Cat Form at the same time, which means tanking and damage at once. Most talents in the tree work for both forms, so you can switch between roles without respeccing.
Strengths
- Two roles in one specialization: tank and melee DPS without changing talents.
- Talents empower both forms at once, so your points aren't split between roles.
- Leveling moves along faster than it does for Balance: less downtime spent restoring mana.
- A useful group toolkit:
Mark of the Wild,
Faerie Fire, and the combat resurrection
Rebirth. - In a dungeon you can fill in for the tank and, if needed, shift out of form to heal the group.
Weaknesses
- Until level 10 you have to play with a basic set of spells,
Wrath and
Moonfire, and only then move into your forms. - While in a form, you can't heal or cast: you have to shift out of form for any spell.
- Only a small part of the toolkit is unlocked in the beta, so the rotation is primitive.
- In
Bear Form, you have to build Rage from scratch after every form change.

Talent Notes
Ferocity 5/5 — reduces the cost of abilities in both Rage and Energy. That means more
Maul uses as a bear and a cheaper rotation as a cat.- Feral Swiftness 2/2 — movement speed in
Cat Form and extra dodge chance in all forms.
Heart of the Wild 3/5 — a stat boost. The talent is very strong at high levels; at low levels with poor gear, the payoff is more modest.
Feral Charge (Bear) 1/1 — the last point at level 20.
There are two viable alternatives. First: drop
Feral Charge (Bear) and
Heart of the Wild and put 4 points into
Furor so that you shift into a form with resource already available. Second: move the points from
Heart of the Wild into
Feral Instinct for
Swipe damage and more reliable stealth.

Important Abilities
Best in Slot (BiS)
There is no BiS list for the beta yet. Since the specialization covers two roles, the set of items differs slightly: you need roughly the same stats, but the emphasis shifts depending on whether you are tanking or dealing damage. Either way, look for a high-damage weapon first, since it works in both forms.

Best Professions
The main option: Skinning provides leather, and Leatherworking turns it into gear. Forever added several powerful rare items to Leatherworking that make leveling noticeably easier.
An alternative for those who want potions and elixirs: healing at a critical moment and long-lasting stat buffs. The downside is that this pairing doesn't provide any gear.
