WoW Midnight Inscription Guide — Leveling & Recipes

Inscribers process herbs into pigments and ink, and create messages, contracts, treaties, Vantus runes, Darkmoon Cards, and equipment. This profession combines a steady demand for consumables with orders for weapons and tools.

Darkmoon Cards can once again be produced in batches. To source your own raw materials, it’s convenient to combine Inscription with Herbalism. A tool with Resourcefulness is useful for grinding herbs: Multicraft does not apply to this operation. For ink and other suitable consumables, you can keep a separate tool with Multicraft.

The instructor Zantasia is located in Silvermoon. Learn the basic profession if you haven’t already, then the Midnight version.

Midnight reagents and consumables have two quality tiers. Weapons, armor, and professional gear retain five tiers. Skill, raw material quality, equipment, and specializations determine the result; concentration helps you reach the next quality threshold and gradually regenerates.

• Resourcefulness allows you to save some of your reagents.
• Multicraft yields additional results when using suitable consumables and materials. It does not duplicate a single sword, ring, or breastplate.
• Inventiveness helps you recover spent concentration.
• Crafting Speed reduces crafting time but does not improve quality on its own.

Before placing an order, check the recipe, quality, additional reagents, and the availability of the desired branch. For gear with special decorations, keep in mind the overall limit of two decorated items per character. The current item level also depends on seasonal reagents, so use the result in the order window as a guide.

Four skill trees unlock at 25, 50, 60, and 75 skill points. Eventually, you can study all paths, but it’s more beneficial to invest your initial points in your chosen task.

For orders, select a specific type of weapon or tool in Blueprints. For the auction, develop a single chain: grinding and ink, messages, contracts, or maps. Fully developing Calm Hands is especially useful for your own weekly treatise: it grants an additional knowledge point.

Blueprints

Weapons and Professional Tools. Field Research is divided into Staves, Bows, and Lamps and Lanterns. Market Research leads to the specializations Chef's Rolling Pin, Alchemist's Mixing Rod, and Scribe's Quill. Nodes increase skill in the selected item type and unlock related recipes.

Calm Hands

General crafting attributes. Dextrous Diligence boost Multicraft, Added Flair improve concentration while working, and Keen Eye helps conserve materials. The main node unlocks the Thalasssian Treatise on Drafting, and when fully developed, increases its weekly reward from 1 to 2 Knowledge Points.

Perfected Products

Materials and Consumables. Parchment leads to the paths Perfect Missives, Perfect Contracts, and Perfect Vantus Runes. Processing combines Perfect Inks, Perfect Milling, and Perfect Ciphers. Invest in the entire production chain if you process herbs yourself; if you buy ink, enhance the final product first.

Darkmoon Curiosity

Cards, accessories, and seals of the four suits: Blood, Hunt, Rot, and Void. Related recipes are unlocked here, and your crafting skill for them increases. Choose one suit before distributing your knowledge among the others. Seals add a special touch to your gear, and Dominion-tier items are crafted through the order system.

Use one tool and two accessories. Rare and Epic gear provide the same skill bonus, but Epic gear has higher secondary stats. To craft personalized items, place a crafting order and provide the required materials.

The tables list the items, the required skill, and the source of the recipe. Having the skill does not replace learning the recipe.

One-Time Sources

• The first time you craft a suitable recipe, you earn one knowledge point if the corresponding reward is listed in the journal. Subsequent crafting of the same recipe does not grant this bonus again.
• 8 treasures yield 24 points. The route with maps is shown below.
• Traditions of the Harani: Inscription grants 10 Knowledge Points and requires 25 Skill Points. The book unlocks at Level 6 Fame with the Har'ati faction. You’ll need The Zeal of a Skilled Inscriber to purchase it.

The weekly quest requires completing 3 crafting orders. Patron orders also grant additional rewards, but their quantity and availability depend on the specific set of orders. If the weekly quest is unavailable, check your progress in the introductory quest chain Crafters Wanted with Captain Fiery Oath.

You can order a treatise from the scribe. There is a restriction on its use: the number of treatises you can carry in your bags prevents you from receiving multiple weekly rewards in a row.

New Moon Fair and Catching Up

During the New Moon Fair, a professional quest grants 3 Knowledge Points and 2 Skill Points. This is a monthly opportunity.

Midnight Inscription Knowledge Shard grants 1 Knowledge Point to catch up on your lag. It appears among the rewards for Patron Orders as long as the character has an available lag. This is not an infinite source beyond the accumulated limit.

Each of the 8 treasures grants 3 knowledge points, for a total of 24. They can be collected once the Midnight profession has been learned; they are not awarded again after the weekly reset or upon re-learning the profession. The coordinates below are intended to be copied into TomTom.

Songbook Pen is located in Lunelight. The treasure lies on the roof of the building behind the alchemy teacher.

2. Songbook Quill

The Songbook's Pen is located in the Forests of the Eternal Song. Look inside the building.

3. Spare Ink

Spare Ink is located in the Forests of the Eternal Song.

4. Unfinished Techniques

Unfinished Techniques is located in the Forests of the Eternal Song.

5. “Techniques” in a leather-bound volume

“Techniques” in a leather-bound volume is located in Zul'Aman. The treasure is inside a cave.

6. Bloodstone Pigment Remnants

Bloodstone Pigment Remnants is located in Harandar.

7. Badge of the Brave Pioneer

The Badge of the Brave Pioneer is located in Kharandar. Climb up the tree roots above the marker. The icon will only appear on the minimap once you reach the correct height.

8. Abyss-Marked Feather

Abyss-Marked Feather is located in Abyss Storm, Killer’s Tooth. Look inside the building.
