WoW Forever Enhancement Shaman — Specialization Changes

Specialization Overview

Melee, weapon and spell damage. In classic, Enhancement was built on weapon strikes, shocks and totems, while Game iconLightning Bolt rarely made it into the rotation. In Forever the tree gains Maelstrom Weapon: melee strikes speed up and cheapen your next Lightning Bolt. Converting intellect into attack power and spell power ties both halves of your damage into a single build, and mana talents support the new chain.

Class Changes

Stormstrike Boosts Nature Damage

Game iconStormstrike now deals regular weapon damage and increases the Nature damage the target takes by 20% for 12 seconds, on an eight-second cooldown. In classic the cooldown was 20 seconds, and the effect was consumed by the two nearest sources of Nature damage — including other players. The new version works for you personally and lasts for its duration: your Game iconEarth Shock and Game iconLightning Bolt get the bonus, and allies no longer eat it up.

Improved Stormstrike grants mana regeneration while casting for 15 seconds after you use the strike, and resets the strike's own cooldown when you dodge or parry. At two points both effects are guaranteed. The mana regeneration helps in sustained damage, the resets in solo play and when working a runaway enemy. On a boss held by a tank, hit from behind rather than exposing yourself to blows for the resets.

Maelstrom Weapon and Farseer's Fury

Maelstrom Weapon is not a sped-up version of the classic rotation but a new layer of play. Melee strikes can reduce the cast time and cost of your next Game iconLightning Bolt; the effect stacks up to five charges and lasts 30 seconds. At the first rank it is 4% per charge, at the fifth — 20%. At five charges of rank five your next Lightning Bolt becomes instant and free, and you cast it without breaking off the melee. The talent affects only Game iconLightning Bolt: Game iconChain Lightning and healing spells are not included.

Farseer's Fury increases attack speed and casting speed by 30% for 25 seconds, on a three-minute cooldown. Turn it on during sustained contact with the target: frequent strikes build charges faster, and the faster casting helps you fire off a Lightning Bolt before a full stack. At five charges of rank five, Lightning Bolt is instant anyway. This is a personal offensive buff — it gives the group no haste and returns no mana.

Game iconFlurry still requires a melee critical strike and speeds up your next three strikes. Game iconThundering Strikes now increases the crit chance of both attacks and spells, and Game iconElemental Devastation turns spell crits into a melee crit chance. Lightning Bolt thus both deals damage and raises melee crit, while the trigger condition of Game iconFlurry does not change.

Weapons, Enchants and Threat

Game iconStormstrike scales from weapon damage, so look not only at an item's stats but also at damage per hit and swing consistency. In classic, two-handed axes and maces needed a separate talent — there is none in the Forever tree. That alone does not mean losing two-handed weapons or being handed dual-wield.

Game iconElemental Weapons strengthens your own enchants: Game iconRockbiter Weapon, Game iconWindfury Weapon, Game iconFlametongue Weapon and Game iconFrostbrand Weapon. The talent does not affect Game iconWindfury Totem.

Spirit Weapons grants a chance to parry blows and reduces all threat from your attacks by 30% — but only while Game iconRockbiter Weapon is not active. With Rockbiter, the same talent instead increases all threat by 30%. Check your enchant before going into damage: Rockbiter flips the effect.

Parry and increased threat help when you are taking hits, but they do not make Enhancement a raid tank. Game iconImproved Ghost Wolf allows Game iconGhost Wolf indoors and shortens the transformation — handy for dashing between targets.

Intellect and Mana in Action

Game iconAncestral Knowledge increases intellect, Mental Dexterity at three points adds attack power equal to 100% of intellect, and Mental Quickness at two grants spell and healing power equal to 30% of intellect. A single hybrid item improves your strikes, Game iconLightning Bolt and emergency healing all at once. Weigh this bonus against the weapon damage and combat stats you have to give up for it.

Shamanistic Focus reduces the cost of shocks and Game iconLightning Shield by 45%. Together with the mana regeneration from Improved Stormstrike and the cheaper Lightning Bolts from Maelstrom Weapon, this leaves a reserve for an extra totem or emergency healing. If you need to interrupt an enemy cast, keep mana for Game iconEarth Shock rather than spending it on another damage spell.

Core Ability Descriptions

Stormstrike

The tree's main button. Game iconStormstrike hits for weapon damage and applies increased Nature damage taken to the target, which benefits Game iconEarth Shock and Game iconLightning Bolt.

Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning

Game iconLightning Bolt is cast from Maelstrom Weapon charges and, at a full stack, requires no stopping. Game iconChain Lightning does not fall under the talent and stays situational — against a dense group of enemies and when you have spare mana.

Shocks

Game iconEarth Shock deals Nature damage and interrupts an enemy cast, Game iconFlame Shock applies damage over time, Game iconFrost Shock slows the target. Only Game iconEarth Shock benefits from the increased Nature damage from Game iconStormstrike.

Weapon Enchants

Game iconWindfury Weapon grants a chance for extra attacks, Game iconFlametongue Weapon adds Fire damage and spell power, Game iconFrostbrand Weapon slows the target, Game iconRockbiter Weapon increases strike damage and threat. All four are strengthened by Game iconElemental Weapons.

Totems

Game iconWindfury Totem speeds up the group's strikes, Game iconStrength of Earth Totem increases strength, Game iconMana Spring Totem returns mana, Game iconStoneskin Totem reduces physical damage taken, Game iconHealing Stream Totem heals, Game iconEarthbind Totem holds an enemy in place, Game iconGrounding Totem removes a spell.

Baseline

Game iconLightning Shield deals retaliatory damage, Game iconHealing Wave and Game iconLesser Healing Wave heal, Game iconAncestral Spirit brings back the fallen, Game iconReincarnation raises you yourself, and Game iconGhost Wolf speeds up movement out of combat.

Talent Overview

The Enhancement tree holds exactly 51 points — the entire budget goes into it in full, and you do not have to spread leftovers across neighboring trees.

This is not a ready-made leveling build. It is only an example distribution of abilities for reference.

Weapon Choice

Game iconStormstrike and regular strikes scale from weapon damage, so the basis of the choice is damage per hit and a steady swing series. Speed matters separately: frequent strikes build Maelstrom Weapon charges more often and check Game iconFlurry more often.

Strength and agility work as usual, but intellect is not a dead stat here. Through Mental Dexterity it goes into attack power, through Mental Quickness into spell and healing power, so a shaman's hybrid items are evaluated as a whole rather than by a single line.

Hit and crit in Forever are shared between strikes and spells, so the same item improves both melee and Lightning Bolts. Picking gear is simpler than in classic, where these halves were counted separately.

Weapon enchants are chosen for the task: Game iconWindfury Weapon — for constant damage, Game iconFlametongue Weapon — when you need spell power for your Lightning Bolts, Game iconFrostbrand Weapon — for a slow, Game iconRockbiter Weapon — for threat. Remember that together with Spirit Weapons Rockbiter increases threat rather than reducing it.
