Spring Butterfly

Spring Butterfly is an epic flying mount added in patch 11.1.0 of the The War Within expansion. It is a sparkling pink butterfly with shimmering wings on which your character soars above the ground surrounded by glittering particles. The mount drops from the Heart-Shaped Box during the annual Love is in the Air event.

The in-game description reads: "Soar to the skies on this radiant spring butterfly with its shimmering wings." The mount's model is rendered in pink tones and belongs to the butterfly family, alongside the Nacreous, Ruby and Midnight butterflies.

• Unique aesthetic — the Spring Butterfly has a delicate pink design with sparkling effects on its wings. It is one of the most beautiful holiday-event mounts.
• Flying mount — it works both on the ground and in the air. Its speed depends on your riding skill: from +60% on the ground up to +310% in flight.
• Bad-luck protection — unlike most holiday mounts, the Spring Butterfly's drop chance increases with each day that you kill the boss. This means that sooner or later the mount is guaranteed to be yours.
• Low barrier to entry — a level 10 character is enough to take part in the event. No reputation, no gold and no long quest chains are required.
• Account-wide availability — once obtained, the mount becomes available on every character on your account.
• Themed set — alongside the mount you can purchase a full Spring Butterfly transmog and weapon set for Love Tokens.

• A character of level 10 or higher
• Apprentice riding skill (ground movement) or Expert riding skill (flight)
• An active Love is in the Air event (annually in February)
• Access to the Dungeon Finder to queue for the fight against Apothecary Hummel

The Spring Butterfly drops from the Heart-Shaped Box, which you receive on your first daily kill of Apothecary Hummel in the Crown Chemical Co. dungeon during the Love is in the Air event.

1. Wait for the Love is in the Air event to begin (it usually runs from February 9 to February 23)
2. Open the Dungeon Finder (the I key by default) and find the Crown Chemical Co. holiday dungeon
3. Queue up and defeat Apothecary Hummel together with his henchmen
4. Claim the Heart-Shaped Box from the reward
5. Open the box — with some chance the Spring Butterfly mount will be inside
6. If the mount does not drop, repeat daily. The drop chance grows with each day

How to Queue

1. Make sure the Love is in the Air event is active — check the in-game calendar
2. Open the Dungeon Finder (the I key)
3. Switch to the holiday dungeons tab
4. Select Crown Chemical Co. and click "Join Queue"
5. Wait for the invitation — the queue usually takes from a few seconds to a couple of minutes

The Apothecary Hummel Fight

You fight three apothecaries at once: Hummel, Baxter and Frye. The fight is simple and lasts literally a few seconds at max level.

Two cauldrons are placed in the room:

• Spirit Neutralizer — grants immunity to spirit attacks
• Cologne Neutralizer — grants immunity to cologne attacks

Click a cauldron to create an item in your bag. Use it to gain a 5-minute buff. At high levels the bosses die in mere seconds, and the neutralizers are usually not needed.

Kill order: Hummel and Baxter first, Frye last (he moves around chaotically and places pools on the floor).

After the Fight

After the victory you will automatically receive the Heart-Shaped Box. Open it and check the contents. In addition to the Spring Butterfly, the box can also drop:

• Love Witch's Sweeper — another event mount
• X-45 Heartbreaker — a legendary mount with an extremely low drop chance
• Various holiday items and currency

Love Tokens are earned through daily quests, dungeon runs and donating gold to the Gift Giving celebration.

How to Earn Love Tokens

• Daily and introductory quests — from 10 to 50 tokens per quest
• The Crown Chemical Co. dungeon — 5–11 tokens per run
• Donating 10,000 gold at the Gift Giving celebration — 10 tokens per day
• The "Crushing the Crown" quest chain — 140 tokens, one time

Love Tokens are warband-bound, so you can stockpile them across several characters.
